Nothing fancy, but definitely decadent. I've been reading about the bias against non-tallow soaps so I revisited what I considered a poor spending choice from a year ago. Having paid too much for a puck of glycerin soap doesn't make it a bad soap! Maybe the first time I used a synthetic knot with it; better than I recall lather. Moistened the puck ( No, I didn't bloom it ) loaded for less than 20 seconds, and went to the suribachi bowl. Overflowing volume in 30 seconds of agitation. Thick, creamy, slick. Huh, I had written it off as a mistake. Three passes and a little cleanup with the Type G1 from member @John Ruschmeyer brought me to DFS status. I reached way in the back of my cabinet to find my first AS; Barber Shop Aid - Fresh Cool Breeze. It kind of reminds me of

I shaved with nothing but Conk for years before I discovered forums. Funny how if nobody is there to tell you how bad it is, it's not so bad. :)
I also used nothing but Shark blades and a Parker TTO. Got pretty good shaves too. I am sure anything they were lacking was not the fault of the equipment either.

Nice perspective there, I still have and use occasionally VDH deluxe, and honestly it really isn't bad either.

Technique is where it's at. 450,000 guys in Turkey used Derby and Arko this morning, and they all felt ok about it.

    Straight Razor: Cattaraugus Cobalt
    Rescue Razor: Schick I1 injector
    Brush: JR #60 synthetic
    Lather: Fine Platinum
Post: Witch hazel splash, Fine Platinum aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Straight razor shave #4. Decided to try the Cattaraugus that Adam included. It worked well. I couldn't tell a huge difference between it and the Genco. I also have a Dubl Duck Satinedge in my possession now, thanks to the TSD raffle. It will see some action soon.

I almost completed a full pass. I did my upper face and started on my neck with a N/S pattern. I got about 1/3 of the way down my neck and stopped. The angle and direction of holding the razor were awkward. But I wouldn't go near my neck earlier this week, so I'll say there is some progress.

My upper lip is still difficult to shave, but it'll get there.

I cleaned up everywhere and finished off my neck with the I1 injector. Overall nice shave. Then the witch hazel and aftershave lit me up. I think I went over some areas too many times in overzealousness. I have a little irritation on my neck, which is understandable since it hasn't been shaved with a straight yet. But I'm pretty smooth and smelling good with the Fine Platinum.

My neck is going to be difficult to shave. The growth pattern is generally left to right. I tried the N/S approach but it began to really feel uncomfortable. That would be shaving a lot of that area XTG. I'm having trouble finding a grip to facilitate a decent left to right stroke for the neck. Any thoughts?

Thanks to my TSD Secret Santa for the Fine Platinum soap and aftershave. Great stuff!

Razor: Gillette Executive Gold Adjustable Fat Boy (F 1) 1960.
    Blade: Kai Stainless Steel (7)
Brush: Elite Razor Gold Laced Black Onyx Tuxedo
    Soap: Route 66 Lumberjack
    Aftershave: Route 66 Lumberjack Balm

Seventh shave with the Secret Santa Kai Stainless Steel blade and I'm very happy with the results. I'll change tomorrow to a Secret Santa Voskhod Bocxo II. I haven't picked my razor yet, but I'm leaning toward my Gillette Slim K 4, 1965. Have not used it for sometime, so I should give it a go. The brush for tomorrow is another story. I'll wait and see how I feel in the morning.
Excellent 3 pass shave with a little clean up for a near BBS.
