  2. Thank you Charlie. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
  3. Maybe you could use it to celebrate Neal's birthday? ;)
  4. So shave with the worst blade you can find would become our new "Septimo de Octubre"?
  5. October 7 is also International Frugal Fun Day. I'm starting to see the possibilities. :shocked003:
  6. I have a cheap soprano that actually sounds good. My four year old has a vintage purple soprano. The plan is for me to show her how to play, and hope some of the skills carry over to my A style mandolin that I can do nothing but make loud noises with.
  7. You should take up harmonica.
  8. I tried, but the dog hated it.

After Grace Vanderwaal won America's got Talent, and a million dollars, I tried to talk my daughter into learning to play.
  10. Decadent December!!

    December 24

    Razor - Soviet Consul
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Post - Alum

Second day of the Consul and we crank it up to 2 on the dial. Now, on the Slim this is the lowest setting I use and it doesn't always give a fantastic shave depending on the blade. Pretty mild. On the first stroke with the Consul....this is no Slim. It isn't crazy aggressive but definitely more than a Gillette Adjustable. Loud audible feedback and two passes and a bit of cleanup got me to a near-BBS and the alum is only mildly hot. Really, just in spots. Still a smooth feel and no blood or other issues. Other than the aggressive feel I'm beginning to think this isn't a real Soviet. Oh wait, there's that slightly loose adjustment wheel and the overall cheap metal feel. I'm back to reality.

Hope you are all having a great holiday weekend!

  11. This probably goes downhill when the dial hits six.
  12. If 6 is the over under, I'll take under.
  13. Decadent December 2 shave report

Christmas Eve morning shave: Santa Maria Novella, Tulip 3, Rocnel adjustable, new Feather blade and SMN Acqua d' Cuba. SMN always makes a wet runny lather for me, better suited for straight razor shaving so I even though I loaded a Feather I opened up the Rocnel, aggressive but not as aggressive as Futur all the way open. Turned down the aggression for the 4th (ATG) pass. Fantastic shave but for several weepers. Long lasting BBS, it was not for the weepers it would have been epic. This razor is 2 for 2, both shaves were awesome except for small weepers.

Christmas Day morning shave: Decided to go with my PRC Damascus because it has fewer shaves on the edge than my Mastro Livi. I decided to test the SMN in the scuttle with hot water plus a change up. I usually load SMN directly from the pot because it a hard cream, today I scooped some out and add some water from the kettle and bam!! The lather was even better. 4 passes and thought I had an epic shave except for three weepers again. Still other than the weepers no irritation and long lasting BBS. Some Houbigant Fougère Royale and I am ready for the day.

Merry Christmas to all my TSD brothers!

  14. $5 donation from loser to forum? You win on 345, I win on 6789?
  15. You're on. What determines the win? Blood? Or just really bad irritation?

  16. It's one of those things. We'll know it when we get there.

What's the worst that could happen?

Neal gets through unscathed and we both pay.
  17. When it goes I expect more of a cliff than a downhill.
  18. We are counting on it. We set the payoff criteria with that parameter in mind!
  19. At least arterial bleeding wasn't mentioned.
  20. January is usually a pretty good month from a schadenfreude (NASCAR) perspective, if one can maintain a proper sense of humor. Lots of people with new toys and gung ho attitudes. Some blood will kiss the steel, but fun will be had, skills acquired, and we begin anew.
