The Haul: December 2016

A couple varieties of Skin Bracer arrived today.
Still sealed in the plastic (mostly) and in pretty good shape.

The $2.50 price tag made me think twice about the $18 I spent. Must be inflation.

 

Just received Cold River Soap Works Select Limenthol Soap & Post-Shave Lotion today. I will be trying this out tomorrow for a great start to Christmas!

"Yama Super Extra" , Japanese razor.

 

Well the Google translation did say that the blade was "disobedient".

I did try the razor today (see SOTD post over in the December focus thread). The razor is actually quite mild but is so badly finished that it feels like you're going to get a cut from the safety bars.

I'm tempted to send you the other one I bought just so you can compare the Russian Rapira to the Chinese Junjie.

 

Two tubs of soap from my wife for Christmas.

The Cinder smells like a nice citrus based cologne with some undertones that make it smell almost like Pollo Black to me.

The Sir Hare is supposed to be a classic barber shop scent (this is my first barber shop scented product so nothing else to compare to). It is a very light clean scent. Almost a little woodsy with a faint scent of citrus and an undertone of tyme perhaps. Maybe the scent will develop more once lathered.

The Cinder is on tap for my Christmas shave tomorrow.

A gift from my wife's parents. The strop is a beauty. I can't wait to try the razo in the morning.

My wife made me these razor sheaths for Christmas



She says these are just prototypes to see if I like them - next batch will be embroidered with the names of the respective razors they hold.

 

Great gifts congrats, I recentlt got a SRD strop, nice piece of kit, entry level Latigo I have but its very good, as I like a slower draw. hope the pinning goes well its fun to do, well for me anyway.

 

Thank you. I just used the strop and I like it a lot. It's my first three inch and I still use an x-stroke out of habit. Merry Christmas.

Nice find John! How is the scent on these? sounds like they would be much nicer and more refined than the regular green Skin Bracer.
