Beautiful set up Jared. The Mongoose with a Super does make for some very close and long lasting shaves. :)

I am not sure if today is an official workday for me or not. Either way I am going to the office and see what I can get accomplished. Up for today is one of my gold standard work morning lineup. Each item just simply works great for me. The Envy White knot in the Elite Ironwood "Amigos" brush has a huge amount of backbone and scrub. This backbone of the brush easily surpasses that of any boar brush I own or have tried. The MdC lathered up easily as expected. I have discovered taking time to properly hydrate the lather makes the lather slicker and improves the shave. Two passes, XTG & ATG, followed by some touch ups ended in a near BBS. After 16 shaves, the Feather Super Pro is done. I finished off the shave with a splash of Fine Lavender. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Jim, thank you for the kind words. This brush is special to me because the collaboration that went into having the brush made allowed me to get to know both Doug & Mark even better.

Thanks to our friends across the pond, I know what Boxing Day is. Appreciate those who Serve!
Early morning for me, and a no hassle shave today. Liking this lather more every use, especially with a Maggards knot. These synthetics really do load easily. Great performance on 2nd or 3rd use of the blade. I don't keep count anymore, it's about how they feel. Three passes and plenty of G-slides rewarded as close to BBS as I push for. Cool Alum and my GF's favorite AS in anticipation of a visit today.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

    December 26

This is no-shave day for me. I'll get back to my R41 tomorrow. My Bride and I are both off from work today for our Christmas holiday. We are heading off to the YMCA this morning to get back in our routine.

I have three more working days until retirement, and my Bride has five. We have worked 71 years combined at the same two companies, so it has become a bit of a habit. Retirement will be fun for both of us, but it will certainly be different. We want to stay active, so if you see me posting on TSD too much during the day, please call me out on it! Plans so far include more consistent Bible study and exercise, volunteering & serving at our church, travel, guitar lessons, and just having fun with my friends, family and beautiful Bride. Not surprisingly, most of the things we want to do don't require a lot of stuff or money. Instead, we need our faith, health, humility and our sense of humor.

I hope you all have a restful day and a great week.

Congrats on your upcoming retirement, Charlie! That is such an accomplishment; I always admire those who cam make it through a whole career, especially at the same company. I know you and your wife must be looking forward to it, and I am sure you will enjoy it.

December 26 - Such a decadent shave it didn't shave anything?

    Schick J3 Hydromagic / Personna white ( 2) / Schick E2
    Supply Provision synthetic brush
    TOBS Avocado croap
    Alum and cold water

I hit my old standby razor in my rotation today, so I also pulled out a reliable old soap I'm trying to use up and prepared to have a quietly uneventful shave. The blade had been used once last Tuesday and had been sharp enough to give me a couple weepers. Today, it wouldn't cut anything.

I did my usual two crisscross passes with the razor, hearing lots of feedback -- and noticed no reduction of stubble whatsoever. So I switched the blade into my much more aggressive Schick E2, did two more passes -- and had the same result. to make sure it wasn't an angle problem, I varied it widely during my passes, with absolutely no change in results. I look and feel like I haven't shaved at all.

Can a virtually new injector blade completely lose its edge from just sitting unused for a few days? Anyone heard of that? (Because I have swapped razors before and left one sitting unused for awhile without such an edge loss.) Or is something else going on?

    Any ideas?
