I just see no way I can avoid the Barrister and Mann releases in 2017. Seriously. Have you looked at Will's lineup???? I don't think I can NB 2017. I could probably low buy software and NB hardware. You gotta start somewhere I guess..........
Even though I won't be joining you in this NB adventure I wish you well. It sounds like everyone is hoping to achieve different objectives...with the main one being to use up your software and not buy any new stuff! (with a few notable exceptions). I am trying to use up my soaps and creams...I have so many. I enjoy using one product for an extended period of time. For example, lately I am trying to use up a tub of GFT Coconut and what I realize is this is an amazing cream...and the more I use it the more I know exactly to get the most from it in terms of lathering. Not buying new soaps and creams is a great way to really enjoy what you have!
Well folks, NB'17 is fast approaching, I'm not ready yet. I want to order some more split handles so I can practice repairing them. Unfortunately, I may have to abandon that project. We shall see. So is everyone else ready?
I am in. And excited. I have one thing up in the air. I just received a Feather AC razor shipped from Japan, and he sent me the wrong one. We are in the process of ironing this out right now. I may end up keeping the one he sent at a discount and re-ordering the one I originally wanted, but this will likely not be squared away before the first. Even at that, I have every intention of owning less stuff on New Years 2018 than 2017. Good luck everyone.
Well.... I would like to pick up a straight razor or two if the price is right. Maybe a kampfe razor and a few pucks of soap. How about an "almost no buy" 2017?
As the instigator of NB16, I took it to the competition committee. They ruled this is totally fine for NB17... You're essentially doing it now....
It's strange that I missed this thread, but I am in! I actually started composing my own No Purchases in 2017 thread but holiday laziness got the better of me, and here I find it wasn't necessary in the first place. I let things get a little out of hand in 2016 and am looking forward to enjoying my gear & consumables in 2017. I have calculated that if I don't make any purchases until mid-year 2018 I will cross over that magical barrier into "saving money versus cartridge shaving", that theoretical land that has always been just out of my grasp.
I think you used the wrong word. I believe it is "mythical" not 'magical' Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
Ok, so I"m gonna try this. Failed pretty badly in '16 but hope to do better this coming year. Good luck to all.
I'm not going to buy that razor I originally ordered. The seller gave me enough off to keep this one and be happy about it; I won't be shopping for another Feather.
I didn't do to well in 2016, and as has been stated the thrill of the hunt is part of it for me. I do plan on low buy 2017. I will only purchase razors if I want them as a part of my long term collection. I will not count the two razors I have already committed to purchase that should be here by Feb, but I will track all shaving purchases in 2017. For software, I am good on soap. There are a few more aftershaves I would like, but don't really need. Good on brushes, DE blades, DE razors, and SE razors. I will be looking to do some trades as well. How's that for non-commitment?
This just showed up. I plan on ordering two aftershaves, and a new alum bar tomorrow. I am committing to no buy for software for 2017. It's a start, right?
These are a way softer soap than Williams. You just press them into a bowl or mug or whatever, then get after them with your brush. You can BLOOM them ( @swarden43 ) if you want, but you don't need to by any means.
