Hmmm.... Not sure how this affects the wager @Bama Samurai and I had. On one hand the wheels did fall off under 6, on the other hand it was admittedly operator error. Oh well I donated anyway and will leave it up to Chris to decide the winner.

    Also @NCoxSTL

TSD is the winner. If the wheels come off again, I pay up too. Besides that, I played Monty Hall last night.

@PickledNorthern posted something on the donation board that I kinda like. Inspiring me to do the same for 2017.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

Well kudos for the donation in spite of it being operator error and not the razor. If anything was to blame there it was probably my own oversized ego in play.

I checked out the donation board and I like that idea as well. :happy096:

Maybe he got rattled by the wonky blade and we can pin it back on the superb engineering for throwing a blip into the force...?

    Decadent December 2016 - Day 28

    New Shavette per last night...

Parker. Way better than I'd read about. The stainless construction provides a nice heft, better simulating the feel of a real straight. Shark Stainless in the arm provided a near Grail. I tried something new. First soaping my wet beard with an Arko stick, and allowing it to sit on the hair for three minutes or so. Then I rinsed clean and loaded the Plisson with Stirling. I could hear hair breaking, and got that sweet Velcro sound on nearly every stroke. It did so well I simply applied alum, which was quiet, and hit it with AV Musk for a one pass DFS-. My verdict on the razor is a solid thumbs up, and will try it with a sharper blade soon! Seventy mile gusts and cool on the prairie. Mild weather for the next week has me in a good mood. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday!
    :)

I've been using a Parker SRW and really like it. Mine came with the Shark blades as well, and while I hate them in a DE, they work great in the shavette.

I really feel like the tight blade mount of a shavette razor takes blade choice out of the equation a bit. Almost every DE blade I've tried works ok in a shavette. It's actually a fun way to use up odd and ends of open blade tucks.

I am totally up for a month of shavettes. My Weck has been seeing quite a bit of use, and my beautiful bride got me one of these for Christmas:

Between them I could use a focus month. Might be on the hunt for one more shavette. I am feeling more and more that shavettes are my shaving tool of choice.

If you're near a Sally Beauty, they carry some DE Shavettes that are cheap and fun.

I have been looking at the Parker shavettes. Seems a solid deal for $20.

Grab a Magic, it's less than twenty. They carry Fromm (Weck clones) also. There are essentially two styles of cheaper shavettes. Dual arm, like Parker, Bluebeard, Leopard and the like are the same razor in essence. Fwiw, Leopard is less than $10 online. I really like the Magic style. It's a "push to load" utilizing a hollow "blade" and an insertable blade carriage. It's brilliant in its simplicity and provides a super rigid blade edge, albeit with the drawback of being a very lightweight open blade razor.

Get the all steel one. You'll probably like the added stability of the relatively heavy razor.

The extra weight is what I am looking for. The Magic seems light like my Weck. But if I can score something decent for $10 all the better.

Magic has been razor of choice lately. It's largbthan the Parker styles, and since I have NBA hands, it's easier and more natural for me to grip as if it were a real straight.

Barber/Beauty supply houses have neat stuff too, like actual barber AS and the like.
