When we had the future of the den thread, I said I was willing to contribute a regular fee as a pseudo membership of sorts. I donated then, with the statement, putting my money where my mouth is, one month at a time.

It won't be much at a time, but I'll keep ringing the bell.

Those are a great razor. I just got another one. Congrats!

***Edit - Got another one to replace one that was sold, not a second one.

I will definitely give that a try. My focus next month is going to be on post shave feel, so I am going to make sure I have a few shaves next month with this soap. So far, it is excellent, though.

That is a G12 from Georgetown Pottery. My wife got for me it as a seconds purchase a couple of years ago. The flaw is not even noticeable, and this is the one piece of shaving paraphernalia that gets to stay on the counter.

Here is another one, I got the idea from PlanofMan on his shavette thread:

With the caveat that I haven't shaved with it yet, it is very solidly built, and heavy; 57 grams as opposed to 39 for my Parker. (I have the plastic one, not the steel one like @Bama Samurai .) Even my Irving Barber is only around 53 grams. The mechanism is the same as the Parker. At ten bucks-ish shipped from Britain, it seems like a steal.

This line up continues to impress. The Envy White knot is one of my favorite knots with excellent backbone, flow through and scrub. Combined with the Elite Razor Beehive handle the complete package is a joy to use. As expected the MdC was easy to whip into a wonderful rich lather. Sticking with 2 passes, XTG & ATG, followed by minimal clean ups ended in a near perfect BBS. I really can't expect much better for a work morning. I finished the shave with a splash of Fine Lavender. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

And there was. Bad enough I had to stop in the middle of my shave and dig out the styptic. Damn near finished a cup of coffee before I could start up again. And it reminded me that the only other time I have cut myself this badly was my first shave with my last AC razor. Hmmmm.

So I got to looking a bit. I had read before about the SS razor and its very wide, rounded bevel. At the time, being my only AC style razor, I had nothing to compare it to. With a small blade exposure, it requires a pretty steep angle. Sorry the pic is so bad, I was shaky from blood loss, and it was a pretty close up shot.

It isn't a bad angle necessarily, but it requires a little different stroke. When you try to start a stroke XTG or ATG, with my coarse stubble, there it pretty good resistance. Hard to tell the difference between whiskers and flesh..... Am going to have to work around this one for a while.

The effective angle of my Irving Barber is much shallower. It allows for a much easier start up of a stroke. I have also read that the Feather DX does not have the same rounded bevel of the SS. I do not know why the difference exists.

I think I will change this blade out for a Super. That increase in blade exposure should lessen the angle a guy needs to use. Plus, if I am going to flay my face open again tomorrow, I want to do it like a Super Professional.

Other than that, it was a pretty good shave. The kami style is super nimble, and my neck is as smooth as I have gotten it to date.

I am considering that a lesson learned before the January focus starts. I probably won't have my stitches out til the end of the first week, but I am still planning on a good month.

Very nice picture, Clint. I totally agree with you on the Envy White knots. I love mine, and would absolutely have another brush built with one.

I hope you heal up quickly. I admire you guys for putting forth the effort to master the Shavettes and SR. I just do not have the time or patience to even give it a try.

Thank you Jared. I am seriously considering replacing some of the knots in my existing brushes with Envy White knots.

Continuing with my 7 o'clock green Focus, today's cream was Simpsons Unscented, finished off with Canoe AS. The SA-109 was set at "6" for the first pass and "5" for the second. There was no need for a touch up and the alum block was quiet. I continue to be impressed with the Greens. They have delivered fantastic shaves so far.

The only badger I am keeping is a 24mm Envy White. It has enough backbone for my liking, even if boars are my preference. I think I might have lucked out in that with a good Boar, Badger, and Synthetic, I have no desire to get more brushes.

    Sir Hare Classic Barber

    Crown King Scuttle
    Homemade Lime AS

Good morning friends. Last night was my first dance with Sir Hare. The Classic Barber scent is very light but very pleasant, a touch of sweetness and a bit of woodsyness, not like piney mind you, but like fresh cut lumber. I don't have any other barbershop scents to compare this to but it is quite nice. The consistency of the soap right now is very very soft. Almost as though it wasn't cured long enough. The soap was so soft that I was able to see little particles of soap in my brush after loading it. No issues in building a lather though. I got a nice thick creamy lather built up in my scuttle in no time. The lather was very slick and protective and had a good post shave feel, no need for a balm after the shave. As before the New SC and the Rapira PL made a heck of a team. Have a great day my friends!

I too have a NEW SC(ca. 1932-1940). Next month I'll be doing a Focus to find the right blade for it so it can become part of my rotation.
