Hello, this is a continuation from a prior post in the brush, any thoughts on a good working lathering soaps? Thanks for your time! T
Is there a difference between the edwin jagger best bager and the rooney super silvertip performance wise comfort, lathering etc besides the price difference?
There are many soaps out there. I prefer those with little or no scent. Mitchells Wool Fat (MWF) is very popular. I really like it but it took a few goes to get lather out of it (my approach is a very wet brush straight onto the puck. The excess water simply falls off the soap. Then apply straight to the face). I really want to try Trumpers coconut but at around £8.50 for 80 grams they can forget it. A certain respectable gentleman from Montreal will probably, very shortly recommend Erasmic soap. I've beaten him to it. I've not tried it yet but as soon as my present soap and cream runs out it will be my next purchase. Looking at the reviews of this soap I think this could be a good choice. Plus its cheap.
Pretty considerable difference. The Rooney is going to be a much denser brush with soft tips from the higher grade badger hair. You get what you pay for... up to a point of course. As for your original question on soaps: DR Harris (particularly Almond and Lavender scents) and Truefitt & Hill are my top choices. Really top shelf stuff.
1) Mama Bear's darn near anything - Current faves Rosemary Mint & Spicey Lime! 2) Pirate's Cove Menthol Soap 3) Kent 4) Taylor's Lavender 5) Col. Conk's Bay Rum There are a variety of soaps & creams samples from several manufacturers offered through The Shave Den Store including their own TSD scents mixed by the Queen herself - I highly encourage to order yourself a few and discover a whole lot for a whole not!!
Truly Natural No, I don't make this soap or any soap, and I have no connection to the folks that do. Well, except buying it, of course. I have sensitive skin and was trying to find a shaving product that would eliminate the razor burn and bumps that I would get while shaving: even while using some top notch products. I tried many different products and found that a shaving soap with lots of shea butter in it, eliminated the razor burn and bumps. I also found that the shea butter made my skin healthier. I prefer using natural products and was able to find a totally natural soap with lots of shea butter in it. I wish to share the experience of this shaving soap with Ya'll. My recommending this soap on many posts is no different than other members recommending their favorite soap or soaps on many posts (or even other items and products). It's just that you are use to seeing posts of Tabac, MWF, etc. (and probably don't need a description of them), and you are not use to seeing a recommendation of _______________. (It doesn't really have a lot of "punch" to its name, does it?). That is why I have a link to a description of my experience with this soap and a description of the soap. I wish others to have an opportunity to experience another fantastic shaving soap at a fantastic price. :happy013 Soooooooo, are either one of you, or are both of you, soap makers or have anything to do with soap makers or selling soap(s)?
I make soap. What does that have to do with anything? Here at TSD everyone is free to talk about whatever products they like. But........ The fact is, if some new member comes in posting all over the place about some product no one is talking about, they are usually a spammer. You're first post was about that soap, and too many of your other posts have been re-directs to your first post. So, moderators, like myself, and ex-moderators, like qhsdoitall, are gonna be suspicious.
Truly Natural "What does that have to do with anything?" I knew that there was something behind your question, "Ummm.....do you make that soap or something?", and the comment, "I was wondering that myself.", but because you were not direct with your concerns and because I did not know what the real issue was, I did what you did and asked a question to draw out the real issue. I could have asked directly what was behind your question, but I decided to play your game - While in Rome, Do as the Romans Do. You could have PMed me and stated your concerns directly. I would have given you the same answer as above, but at least the communication would have been "clean". "Here at TSD everyone is free to talk about whatever products they like. But........", the word "but" as it is used here, usually negates everything that came before it, and in this instance, it does that. "Here at TSD everyone is free to talk about whatever products they like." Contradiction - "The fact is, if some new member comes in posting all over the place about some product no one is talking about, they are usually a spammer. You're first post was about that soap, and too many of your other posts have been re-directs to your first post." The re-direct (link) is there because there is no reason to restate all those words in the creation of color, format, and syntax that I used. The choice the member makes for their self is to use the link and read the information, or not. I also only post in threads where the member is asking for the performance, conditioning, lather, and price of other soaps, or is asking for new soap information. Since I am dealing with issues here, I might as well deal with another one that I have observed in my brief history at TSD. That is, that some members attempt to shame other members for asking a certain question or making a certain comment. I know that you are aware of my "Actually" comments. These "Actually" comments are to put real facts in the place of their attempted shaming comment. I use the word attempted, because it is truly only shaming to the other member if that member accepts the shame given. I am grateful for the time and effort that Moderators put into their position. I can say that I would not want to do it. Since you are a Moderator and you deal with issues, my question to you is: How are you or other Moderators dealing with these attempted shaming comments from one member to another?
The only thing behind my question is : Are you spamming us? It is not a secret to anyone around here that I make soap. And the real members know they are free to speak good or bad about any products, including mine. The proof is in the pudding. The contradiction is, You are free to talk about any products, as long as you aren't SPAMMING us. Ok, so not only have you just attacked me, but you have just attacked all those members you "actually"ed in the other thread. Sir, if you do not care for this forum, you are welcome to return to the other shaving forum in which you came.
Shame?? It is opinion, and good natured humor, Sir! Michael is of the opinion that shaving is not complicated. That is his OPINION. Of course badgers don't run around in boiling hot water. It's a JOKE.
Nope, it's a FACT! Oh, one other thing...perhaps I missed something (wouldn't be the first time) but does anyone have a clue what this "shaming" thing is all about?
