I think you got it right, Paul. They`ve been buddies for a long time, after all, they live in the same cabinet.

Yeah, it shaves next to fantastic, the handle is hard to get used to. Just have to persevere, I`ll get it. Happy New Year.

SOTD: Lovely morning shave using this custom Joseph Rodgers & Sons 6/8" (late 1800s) with zebrawood scales and brass hardware. Heavy, thickly-spined blade with a scimitar-styled shape, this blade is a challenge to hone but takes a scary-sharp edge. Valobra menthol shave soap, Omega 11137 boar, Stirling 'Sharp Dressed Man' aftershave.

I normally don't use a lot on menthol in the wintertime. As a night shaver, I usually like warm-ish before bed. But for a morning wake me up shave, it is pretty awesome.

Good morning friends, I just had a marvelous shave. First time using Route 66 soaps and man I wish I had tried them sooner. First of all the scent is amazing, it smells like a cranberry lemonade sweet tart. Kathleen really know how to make a great scent. The scent strength is awesome too, the whole bathroom was filled with that amazing sweet tart scent. Performance was outstanding as well, super slick protective thick creamy lather! Top notch all the way, post shave was excellent too, no need for a balm afterward. I am blown away with the quality of this soap, so happy right now! Have a great day my friends!

Muhle Schmule dig that blade gap and exposure. My best shaver, Shake Sharp v1 turbo stabilized with twin Permasharps. Twin blade hack only works on v1 Bakelite but it is transformative. [IMG]

Gotta use the Bay Rum stuff while the short winter season is in for Las Vegas, because once the heat comes back, Bay Rum will hardly get used until it the end of the year.

Frangrance - Bigelow Apothecary No. 32 Bay Rum
Shave Soap - Ogallala Bay Rum
Aftershave - Gabel's Bay Rum (in apothecary bottle with cork)
    Deodorant - Sam's Natural 'Bay'
Razor - re-plated Gillette Old Type circa 1907 (not pictured)
    Blade - Gillette Yellow 7 O'Clock
Shave Brush - 20mm GBS Syntethetic 3rd generation
    Pre-Shave Oil - Lather & Wood unscented

This gear just gives a great shave. Nothing beats the Gillette Old Type. It's my prized antique razor.

I can't stop smelling myself. Bay Rum is like the fragrance that would be used in the air if men had a spa. It's manly aroma therapy that just recharges strength and good will.

The next time I use Bay Rum I think I'll use my Pinaud Clubman aftershave instead of Gabels. Gotta rotate this stuff. Gabels ultimately won the contest but there were some worthy adversaries in the Bay Rum field. Stephans and Pinaud are really great. The top 3 Bay Rum aftershaves were 1) Gabels 2) Stephans and 3) Pinaud.

Gabels only won because it blended best with the Ogalalla soap and Bigelow cologne as a 'set'. But the runner ups were all fully worthy of being in that beautiful, custom labelled brown apothecary bottle.

Thank you Perry. I find it humorous, that the Fine "American" blend is based upon a French scent.

First time in 3 years that I have seen someone use the Bigelow No. 032, besides myself. Great scent.
