Sir Kenneth Grange Courier electric razor from 1963.
A really fun and very, very different shave. I had forgotten what shaving with an electric razor was like.

Well do tell. I have nothing but terrible memories of my dad's old Norelco. Been 40 years since I used an electric.

Pros: Very little mess or preparations. No need to lather any soap or soak any brush. Just put the razor to the face and shave :) Quick and easy.
Cons: Near impossible to get a shave as close as with a DE/SE or even cart. Sure the razor is 53 years, unused, so maybe the age had something to do with it.

It was however really fun to use and I think it's "important" to sometimes explore outside of your comfort zone (be it DE razors or meat and potatoes) to have reference points and understand your options :)

I'm traveling and took the Bunny with me. It had been months since I'd used her (I've been on a straight binge...) Wow! I forgot just how amazingly close the Bunny shaves. I'm sitting here almost 10 hours later with a face that still feels dolphin smooth. :happy036: It was so easy it was unbelievable. I can't say enough about how impressive this razor is. :happy093:

P.S. - the USA pass around is still in progress...

    Dove Men Face Wash
    Arko Shaving Stick
    Jayaruh #100
    Gillette NEW SC
    Personna Super
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    T.N. Dickinson's WH
    Mennen Skin Bracer AS

The Arko Shaving Stick face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #100 Two-band Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Gillette NEW SC with a Personna Super blade (31) gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with T.N. Dickinson's WH and then Mennen Skin Bracer After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Razor: Gillette Slim K 4 1965
Blade: Voskhod Bocko II Teflon (7)
Brush: Elite Razor "Tres Amigos" Desert Ironwood Beehive w/Synthetic
Soap: Jeeves Soaps (Veteran Owned) Turkish Bath
    Aftershave: Folsom Shambala

I was very happy with the performance of the Voskhod blade for seven shaves. I been a great month with some excellent shaves. Thanks to my Secret Santa for some excellent products and tools.
My next months focus will be on Route 66 Shave soaps and using a different shave brush each day. This way I will use brushes I tend to neglect.
I'm off to a grandsons hockey tournament tomorrow and will return Sunday.

Thanks-y'know this is the kind of thing highly supported by Bobby Orr, as he wrote in his latest book. He loves seeing kids get involved in it and do well.

Dec 30: Last shave for 2016. Going out tonight but I plan on staying in the rest of the weekend and watching a lot of football. Merkur 34c, Captain's Choice bowl, Omega Professional Boar brush, Captain's Choice North (blooming). Boy this soap produces the lather. Barbasol for the finish. New blade tested - Rapira Swedish Supersteel. Another Russsian blade from the same factory that produces Voskhod and Ladas. Goes for about $12 per 100. I tested the Rapira Platinum Lux a few days ago. The Lux gave me a wonderful shave. The Swedish Supersteel today - not so much. Definitely two different blades. The Swedish just was not sharp enough. No irritation - it just didn't perform like so many of the other Russian blades. It gave me a decent shave but did not compare to the blades that I have rated in the "excellent" category. I'll rate the Rapira Swedish Supersteel in the "good category". Next shave will be on Monday and I will try the Rockwell Swedish Stainless. Everyone have a happy and safe New Year.
