I grew up in North Alabama, and now live outside Denver. The people here don't realize that the NFL Broncos and their 76k seat stadium is a smaller stage than the 105k that gather each Saturday in Tuscaloosa. We are living in the new Golden Age of Alabama Football, and it's a pleasure to support a team and a coach like Bama has right now. Saban is going to live in Bronze forever outside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

 

Right alongside the Bear, you betcha.

 

If Nick Saban can coach the team to a playoff win this year, he ties Paul Bryant for most poll-era titles with six.

 

I like to think so. Though like all twenty something's he has a tendency to run his mouth before engaging his brain.

It looks like you have a Feather SS. I prefer the DX over the SS, the lip on the SS drove me crazy. Also the DX seemed heavier that the SS. I am curious to hear how you like the Kai after a few shaves.

 

Decadent December ends with day 4 Haslinger

Today's hardware is a Jerry Stark razor and Omega Pro knot in a wooden handle. The Haslinger is a good soap but it will not be replaced.... then again I have at least a couple years worth of soaps. Four passes, zero blood a little tingle from the alum and BBS.

I have a fun and busy day ahead so a great shave was the perfect way to start. It is hard to go wrong with MdC and a Cobra loaded with a Feather Pro. Two passes and minimal touch ups and perfectly clean shaven. A splash of Fine Lavender and I am ready for fantastic day.

My oldest daughter is a Junior at the University of Alabama. She and I are going to the Peach Bowl here in Atlanta this afternoon to cheer on the Crimson Tide. I am looking forward to spending a wonderful day with her. ROLL TIDE

 

Year End 2016 and Decadent December Recap

I have really enjoyed this monthly focus. For hardware and software, I have used a mixture of my favorites as well as new items. I think this will be my approach during 2017. I plan on enjoying the hardware and software I have and selectively adding new items through the year.

During 2016, I shaved daily ending with 366 shaves. The shaves were equally split between DE and SE razors with a few cartridge shaves thrown in. I did thin out razor collection by selling or gifting 4 razors. I plan on keeping the total number of razors at or around the current level.

I purchased a Simpsons CH2 Synthetic brush during 2016 which immediately became my most used brush. I would describe it as a synthetic brush for badger brush guys. The knot is super dense with tremendous backbone and super soft tips. The CH2 literally destroys soap. Do not get this brush thinking you’ll use less soap. I added one LE CH2 Synthetic and will add others in 2017.

During 2016, I finished using 6 soaps that I started in 2015. I also started and finished 3 soaps during the year. My current soap inventory has ballooned during the holiday season and I plan on working through it during 2017. Route 66 soaps have dominated my rotation during 2016. Route 66 is very easy to lather with top notch performance. I would recommend it to new and veteran wet shavers alike.

My participation on the 30 day thread in particular and TSD in general has allowed me to get to know a great group of people. Several have become great friends. I look forward to seeing your posts and exploits in New Year. I wish each of you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2017.

No shave today as it's the weekend and time to rest my mug. Probably no shave Sunday(my usual day to kick off a new shaving week) since Monday is an off day for the warehouse. BUT, Monday is my birthday(62nd, Holy Crap, where did the time go) which means a birthday shave with Voskhods to round out my quest to find a blade for my SA-109. Have a safe New Year's Eve you rascals. I'll be hunkered down here at stately RetLEO-07 Manor, watching on TV all the amateurs jump around like nutcases in Times Square. That is all.
