There aren't really very many large scale Bourbon makers. Maybe only three that make TN whiskey, and I agree about Dickel. http://www.gq.com/story/bourbon-whiskey-family-tree
Trying an experiment today. Typical rainy day here in the northwest woods, so I'm spending the afternoon cold smoking a variety of cheese. Saw a link recently where folks, when they cold smoke something, put some bourbon in the smoker as well. I have about 6 oz of Jim Beam Black in there now. Been smoking for a little over an hour. Will let it go for another hour and then we'll see what we have.
I picked up a bottle of Old Grand Dad 114 today, I heard a rumor they discontinued it because they make more profit on the 100 proof. Listening to a little music while I sip a bit.
The wife broke my favorite whiskey glass this morning. It was a glencairn style glass. She said it was an accident.
Sorry to hear that, glencairn's are my favorite for sipping bourbon, or any type whiskey. I'm about to have a little Dickel #12 in one now.
In a way it all worked out. I went down to the base this morning to the class 6 store (that's military for booze). They had all the special Xmas gift sets marked way down. Bought two whiskeys that each came with 2 glencairn glasses. Now I have four glasses and more whiskey. Just in time for football this weekend.
I really enjoy 86 proof Old Forester. It's not expensive and I think it's quite good. I am also a fan of rye whiskeys, most notably Bulleit Rye. I enjoy Old Fashioneds and Manhattans.
1st Woodford reserve 2nd Pappy Van Winkles 3rd Buffalo Trace 4th Bookers 5the Bulleit 6th Old Grand dad.
Elijah Craig barrel proof (Hazmat).. currently open Blantons... for Xmas, so not sure which one... but Gold would be nice..
For bourbon my favorites are Woodford Reserve and Basil Hayden's. Then after that there's a whole bunch in the drinkable group.
That's what I thought - however, we ran an Article 32 investigation and there was not enough evidence to take it forward. No witnesses except the dog and she wasn't talking.
