Okay, day two of my Blade Focus Voskhods edition. After yesterday's outstanding shave, there was very little stubble to work with. Sooo, discretion being the better part of valor, I dialed the BB back to "7" for the first pass and "6" for the second and a little clean up. The Trumper GFT provided great lather. Finished off with Canoe AS. I treated the Russian Bear with great respect, "riding the cap" all the way.
SOTD January 3, 2017 Route 66 and injector focus Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Personna injector Brush: Jayaruh #60 synthetic Lather: Route 66 Cavendish Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Ozark Mountain Trail aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, XTG Very nice return to work shave this morning. First use with the Personna injector and I have a favorable impression. It was certainly mild but felt very comfortable and provided a nice shave. Of course the Route 66 lather was terrific. Two quick passes (as I had two days growth) and nice shave in the end. I am happy that the Personna gave a nice shave. I think this razor doesn't get a lot of love in the injector world, but I found it to be a really nice addition to my arsenal. I'll shave with it some more and hopefully that impression sticks Have a great day!
January 3, 2017 Razor: Schick J1 Injector Blade: Chick Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Soap: Cella It's been an interesting weekend between various illnesses in the household so today was the first day I've shaved since Friday. Today's combo is one that I don't think I've used in quite a while. IIRC, the last time I used the J1 was during SEptember and I don't think I've used the Cella since before that. As it turned out, though, both were excellent choices with the Plissoft and Cella being a perfect lathering combination. Two passes to what is, for the most part, a BBS. As for focus topic... The Plissoft was a Christmas gift and I think I'm going to be focusing on getting to know it. Beyond that, I'll be continuing the non-focus of just trying to have good shaves and, perhaps, reintroduce a razor or two into the rotation.
Shavette Focusing, Shave #16 -CoolCuts Shavette -Chubby 2 Synthetic -Soap Commander Passion -BOMBED Stirling Gin and Tonic First use of the Sanguine CoolCut 4, $8 razor I got from E bay. It is fairly heavy, 4 grams heavier than my Irving Barber. It is a little rougher than the Parker, both in appearance (intentional?) and fit (cheap). It does hold the blade tightly and do what it's supposed to do. My only concern would be flash rusting in the scales where it has openings that are hard to dry off. Otherwise it is quite cool. Shave went off without a hitch. I quit trying to use my right arm on the left side of my face, and not a single issue. Plenty of time this morning, and I am planted firmly in the DFS camp. The alum block confirmed. It was very enjoyable. Okay, now for the dork factor: [DORKOUT] I took one of my fish hook sharpeners and muted the corners of the blade before I put it in. It isn't like anything wouldn't do it, but the little groove worked well while holding onto the half blade. I just turned it at a little angle and a couple of swipes. I had very rounded corners on my blade. [/DORKOUT] Have a great day everyone.
Welcome to the 30 Day Crew. I am also an FNG. If you have any issues the guys in the Crew(myself included in my own FNG way) will do their best to help you straighten them out. Welcome!!
Thought I'd start the new year a bit differently. I lost count of how many takes it took me to get that. LOL

Welcome to the crew! By now you've noticed some light Shenenigans and read about a few instances of blood on steel. While the Shave of the Day thread is about showing your gear off we go a step beyond. Not just using the gear. It's about getting the best shaves from the gear you use. Don't be shy about having an issue with your shave. It's a badge of honor around here to push the limits. If you need to fall back to let the scabs heal everyone will understand. Your razor - is it a Delta Echo finish?
