    Happy Birthday, Doug!

And also, so as to truly feel involved this month, Route 66 samples have been ordered in the following scents:
    Black Pearl
    Cavendish
    Bourbon Jungle
    Rum Runner
    Perfect Storm

And while I am at it, today's shave:

    -Feather Artist Club SS
    -Omega 10049 Boar brush
-RazoRock Essential Oil Of Lavender soap
    -Dickinson's witch hazel
    -RazoRock Puros AS

Today's shave was a bit rushed. Mistakes were made. This was my first time using the Lavender. The scent was nice, not overpowering but just present enough. I did not get a very slick lather but that could be in large part because I was using the Omega Boar brush for the first time. I think it lost more hair than I did this shave. And I just could not get it to hold more than a pass full of lather. I will give it a little time, but my Plissoft Big Bruce is just soooo good. I wanted to try a boar to see what they were about, and I know they need to be broken in, but it feels cheap, shed copiously, and left me wondering why I would stray from the comfort of Bruce. A second smaller Plissoft may be in my future for travel, and then call it good on brushes. I think I went a shave too far on the Feather blade. I didn't bleed, but man was my face mad about my bungling efforts. Blades shall be swapped before trying it again. The witch hazel helped. The Puros stung like (((mumblegarble))) going on, because the face was pretty well irritated. Ended up with a barely passable shave, a lesson learned, and the saving grace that this aftershave smells like heaven to me. I think tomorrow I will treat myself to the Magic and some Treets.

I went to get a sample of Cavendish. But then I thought, why waste flat rate shipping on one sample? So I started reading descriptions. Five samples later...Well, I made myself stop. They all sound swell.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

30 however many years ago during my radio days I used to scour the production rooms for mistakes and outtakes on all of our staff. I'd put together a blooper tape for the annual station party. By being the one who always put it together I also made sure my worst offenses weren't included. And in the case of the video on here.....all outtakes were deleted before doing the next tape. I learned to take no chances on infamy.

I started with a couple Omega boars. Year and a half later they are still in my rotation. A model #20248 - that shiny chrome plastic handle & 27mm X 64mm knot, in this case dyed to look like badger. The other and one I favor more a #10098 with black plastic classic barbers brush shape, chrome metal trim ring, and 27mm X 65mm bleached boar bristle. Got them both broken in before I knew what a badger or synthetic felt like. Give that Omega a chance. Work it with your hard soaps. If it sheds a few remember it's an inexpensive brush.

Now I've looked at photos of the Big Bruce. After trying a couple synthetics, and favoring a large knot I'll own one just for the WOW factor. The price makes them affordable, too.

Badger experience in my den has been limited to a couple Vulfix brushes. I've about decided they don't have enough umph to load a hard soap so I reserve them to lather creams. Not complaining, just not going to spend the big bucks on another learning experience.

You won't find a better all purpose brush than the gen 3 synthetics you're loving so much. My Plisson is the same fiber. It ended my brush search.
