Today was another Voskhods shave. Felt like taking a trip down to the islands so I broke out the Bay Lime Shave Cream from Stone Cottage Soapworks and the Clubman VI Bay Rum AS. Stone Cottage is an artisan soap & cream maker here in NJ. Kept the SA-109 on the Double Natural(that's "7"&"7" for all you non-crapshooters). Two passer, no clean-up. As they "age" the Voskies seem to like the higher aggression. Alum was as quiet as the Siberian winter. A side note. I've started using a cold towel finish. Man it's great. It was a tip from one of you Gents. Unfortunately with all the info I've been absorbing I failed to remember who's tip it was. So if you wrote about it step on up so I can acknowledge your great advice! Have a good 'un boys and girls.
Great photo Charlie. I'm glad to see the EJ synthetic brush is working better for you. I felt loading off the puck actually helped splay the fibers better and gave a more natural feel to the brush as I face lathered.
January 4, 2017 Razor: Schick J1 Injector Blade: Chick Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Soap: Cella Same setup as yesterday, same great results as yesterday. Right now, I'm just working on dialing back my loading so as to not waste soap.
SOTN January 3rd Merkur 34c Astra SP(2) Blades Grim Smolder Stirling 24MM Synthetic Crown King Scuttle Good morning friends and happy (belated) birthday Doug! Last nights shave was relaxing and enjoyable. I absolutely love the sweet smokey scent of smolder (and so does my wife) and the Stirling synthetic always whips up an abundant bowl full of lather with little effort. The Astra and the 34C brought the baby home again and I am still really smooth this morning! Hope you all have a fantastic day!
Today's shave: REDEMPTION The Razor: Magic Shavette The Blade: Treet The Brush: (((crickets chirping))) The Soap: CLUBMAN PINAUD SHAVE CREAM The Aftershave: Clubman Pinaud After yesterday's less-than-stellar shave, I decided to do something different for the day. I revisited an old nemesis: Clubman Pinaud shave cream. I was excited when I found this stuff a few months ago. My first go around with it was not great. Fast forward a few months. This is not as slick or cushiony as a brush lather. It's a bit airy. But, truth be told, it smells nice (light Pinaud scent) and, used in high quantity, provided a nice 3 pass shave (re-lathering in between passes, of course) with a surprisingly nice post-shave face feel. The Magic worked its magic, and the Treet was a treat. I followed with Clubman face balm and Clubman Pinaud aftershave for a surprisingly nice and fragrant shave that restored my confidence after yesterday. It's 70 degrees today with snow projected Saturday. But I should have some new toys to play with by then, so when that 2-3 inches shuts us down, I won't be bored. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
