At 76 do not need any more Razors or blades.Though just missed ou on a F. I should thin out the harem, but am wary of auction place, and shipping overseas.

Another travel day with the C3. Yesterday's shave left me with minimal stubble this morning a one pass ATG was all I needed to get another super close, face-rubbing goodness shave. :happy036:

There's a beautiful ER 1914 up for auction right now for a rediculous price of $9.99 with a mint case!

    Razor: RazoRock Black Hawk
Brush: Vie Long horse hair/synthetic blend
    Lather: Route 66 Cavendish
Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced with Fine American Blend, Nivea sensitive balm
    XTG, touch-up

Fun and effective shave with the Black Hawk. Went XTG on the first pass and then just some touch-up. One pass with clean-up is my normal procedure anyway, but I changed it up a little by having the first pass be XTG. Smooth results! Route 66 continues to be excellent soap.

    Have a great day!

All the Damaskeene talk so brought mine out. Great close shave. Shake Sharp brought in for head shave finish where it beats the SEs on the coarsest stubble.

After a week on modern SE & vintage Injectors, had a run out with my favourite ER. I love its weight which allows it to be used with a light touch.

Today the Shave was smooth and comfortable with an excellent close finish.

    Shave 3 on Shake Sharp.

Sorry I got sidetracked with my straights last week.

Tonight I modified one of my DE blades. I took it to some 320 paper and sanded the edge away. I removed only enough to eliminate the bevel.

So I installed my good SI blade and installed the dummy.

I proceeded with my 3 pass shave. I could tell it was going to be a VERY nice shave. The blade is nice and stiff. No DE chatter at all. Just the sweet loud noise of a razor doing its job.

    My Aluminum was silent tonight.

I find this razor to be my favorite DE by a large margin. It acts so much like a SE. Hence the reason for liking it so much.

As for adding the second blade. I find that there is virtually no difference from 2 sharp blades and 1 sharp and a dummy.

I find both of these to be superior to using only a single blade.

I would like to thank @jmudrick for loaning me this wonderful and beautiful razor.

    Tom

I figured the second blade was adding stability rather than a second edge but of course was too lazy to test. Thanks for confirming.

I missed it! It sold for $11.50 with the case and original blades. It was mint! Someone got the buy of a lifetime!

Shave for Saturday January 7, 2017

    Henckels Roller Comb razor
    Henckels Solingen wedge blade
    Plisson synthetic brush
    Stirling Electric Sheep soap
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal aftershave

(I had to deal with some network issues today so I'm late getting this up.)

Today's shave featured my latest acquisition, a rather unusual Henckels razor. It is similar to a Rapide, but there are enough differences that I'm hesitant to call it that.

Of course the most striking feature is the roller comb, similar to a Wilkinson. In fact this razor resembles an early Wilkinson as much as it resembles a Rapide.

In addition to the roller comb, the slender handle is knurled rather than lined. There are spring loaded side blade holders and blade stops. A modern blade could be loaded, but why?

The markings aren't much help - in fact they are somewhat cryptic. "Max."

Nonetheless it is most definitely a Henckels.

Here we see (l to r) the Henckels, a Henckels Rapide, Ernst Scharff Rapide (early), and a later model Ernst Scharff Rapide.

Here they are all together in their respective cases.

Almost forgot - the shave! As expected the roller comb provides for a smooth shaving experience, but this razor is still plenty aggressive. The blade is positioned almost directly over the comb, about like a Wilkinson Empire at its most aggressive setting. The Solingen steel blade easily took a wicked edge, and with a little effort (and a great deal of caution) I was rewarded with an irritation free (and bloodless) BBS shave. The shave was easily as good as those from the modern Feather AC bladed tools I've been using lately, although perhaps not quite as smooth and definitely requiring a higher level of concentration on my part.

If anyone knows anything more about this fascinating razor, I'd love to hear about it. :happy088:

Another nice shave with The ER British version of the G Bar, no chrome or motif in the roundel on the handle. It is a great everyday Razor, very forgiving but also delivers a good Shave, especially with a good slick lather.
