January 8, 2017 Timeless OC .95 Gap with Windrose SS Feather (2) Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic Route 66 Twisted Tweed Witch Hazel Floid Blue I am having a lot of fun with this month focusing on the Timeless OC and Route 66 soaps. Of the soaps I have tried, Route 66 soaps are among the easiest to lather. The lather is slick and protective with wonderful post shave feel. The Timeless OC has rapidly become one of my favorite razors. I would say the 0.95 blade gap is mid aggressive with a blade feel of a Slim on 7-9 but vastly more efficient. The Timeless provides a shave that is close and long lasting, rivaling my best shaving SE razors. Two passes, XTG & ATG, paying attention to my trouble spots as I went almost caught the baby. I could have stopped there but touch ups around my jaw line and neck allowed me to catch the little guy. A splash of Floid Blue was the perfect end to a great shave. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
NEW SC Focus Shave 8 January 2017 Pre-Shave: VDH Shave Butter w/hot towel Razor: Gillette NEW SC(1932-1940) Blade: Feather Black Brush: Omega 6212 Cream: TOBS Coconut Post-Shave: Hot/cold rinse, cold towel, Dominello Vitali Post Shave Calming Moisturizer After Shave: Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum Background: Homemade CD of Chris LeDoux. Song of the Day: Running Through the Rain First Focus shave with my NEW to figure which blade will be in it during my rotation. First up are Feather Black(Banzai!!). Two passes, WTG, XTG Cheeks and Chin, ATG Neck. Very close on the two day growth. Alum was quiet. I loved the brassy smell of the razor while I was shaving. Reminded me of sitting around cleaning my duty sidearm with a brass brush. Have a great Sunday Ladies and Gentlemen.
Took a day off from the focus yesterday, and had a nice shave with the General, and my oldest brush. Back to the focus, Shave #20: A perfectly silent shave, just me, the Captain, one of the dogs watching, and a cup of coffee. No nicks or weepers, both feet over the DFS goal line. Didn't even touch the alum because I knew it would tell me "good job", and the AS confirmed my decision. Hope you are all having a good Sunday.
I had this happen. Bathtub caulk won't cure 100%. Get 100% silicone. It will cure. In about two days.
I use the 100% Silicone made for use in aquariums. Like you said it cures in about 2 days. If you soak the brush in very hot water the knot can be removed. I only use epoxy when I know that I don't won't to remove the knot for any reason.
Razor: Gillette Black Tip X 3 1952 Blade: Wilkinson Sword (1) Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip Black/White Marble Handle Soap: Route 66 Rum Runner Aftershave: Floid Aftershave This is a horrible shave brush. The marble handle has little marble, and the knot is a disaster. I switched to a Ever Ready 100 T I had curing on top of the a cabinet for the final 2 passes.
Thanks, everyone, for your helpful comments. I'll try 100% silicone and let it cure for at least two days this time around. I may want to remove the knot at some point, so this may be a better option than two-part epoxy.
Great set up today, Dirty Harry. I get some of my best shaves with my Gillette NEW and a Feather blade. I'm also a big fan of the TOBS creams.
