January 17, 2017 Razor: Gillette Mach 3 Blade: Walgreens Mach 3-compatible cart (ASR-made) Brush: VdH Boar/Razorock Plissoft 22 Cream: KMF fragrance-free I had a lazy 3-day weekend, so this was the first shave since Saturday. I went with the Mach 3 again as I'm kind of curious as to how it holds up. On a whim, I decided to use the VdH Boar as I hadn't used in since getting the Plissoft for Christmas. Lathering for the first pass didn't seem to go as well as usual with the result looking thinner than I had been seeing with the KMF. Worse, however, was when I realized that my face was covered in loose boar bristles. Needless to say, this was very disconcerting. For the second pass, I switched to the Plissoft. Of course, by this point I was flustered enough to end up with too much cream and a lather which, while slick, tended to want to clog the razor. In the end, though, I still ended up with what appears to be a BBS. I'm wondering what happened with the VdH Boar, though. Usually, I lose a hair or two at a time at most. This was almost as though it had saved up all those hairs since Christmas and released them all at once. It was the worst experience I've had since the self-destruction of the Marvy brush.
That's what happens when you ignore the Boar. I always seem to get the closest shaves with a couple-three days growth. Sorry to hear of your brush's boarish behavior.
It's time to take this razor to the hones. I had to do a cleanup pass today with another razor. In keeping with the focus, the cleanup razor was a Dubl Duck Dwarf. Nice BBS. Route 66 Perfect Storm B-400 Brush by Tom Hien 650 Kamisori Lucky Tiger Pinaud Clubman AS Have fun!
In your never repeating parade of cologne, this one really caught my eye. Maybe the generic label? A good sandalwood? As I recall a brick, wrapped in gold leaf, with a lemon wedge? I find Canoe has a tinge of metallic, where as Clubman is smooth. Similar, yes.
You would be well advised not to mock the ones chosen by The Veg. Your best bet is to avoid eye contact, and if asked a question about it, just mumble something affirmative sounding and change the subject as quickly as possible. If pressed directly, respond with, "It did not choose me." That is like some sort of password which triggers a response to ignore you; The has Veg decided you are not worthy.
I'm a fraid "The Veg" and the Bay Rum are two Clubmen I won't try. But I'm happy with some of the other products of Ed's.
Focus Shave #28 (I think???) -Kai Captain -Jayaruh 400 Tuxedo -Stirling Sandalwood Software It was pain stick today in my little mini lineup of open blade razors, and it was actually the Feather's turn. I had a pretty thick growth today by the time I got around to shaving, and TBH, I didn't want anything to do with that Godless lime green bloodletter. I went with the Kai, and was not disappointed. I finished up with a solid DFS, and no blood. This razor just gets better every time I use it. I am still undecided on what I am going to do with the Feather. Just not sure it is worth the effort, when the Kai, nearly identical in form, feel and appearance, performs so much better for me.

Find a tomcat with a urinary infection. Squeeze. Same sent, but you didn't buy anything. See how easy that was?
Razor: Gillette Black Beauty w/case R-2 1971 Blade: Personna 74* Tungsten Plus (3) Brush: Omega Professional 10098 Soap: Route 66 Ghost Town Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso Bowl: Pottersong KO Shave Everything worked out very well today except for an user error not getting under the chin very well. Maybe tomorrow. Razor, blade, soap, brush, and aftershave worked great. Ice storm closing in on use.
Strong second on the staying upwind and a safe distance. I wasn't chosen. I knew it as soon as I received the box, where the Veg had opened up in transit. I honestly thought one of the neighborhood critters had peed on the box. Then I opened it. And it was worse. Several people said it would smell different once it was on you. So I splashed some on me. My wife fabreezed the bathroom, and encouraged me to shower. Immediately. I found someone who wanted it, and passed it along. I think its more fun to mock the heroes who are chosen than to be one. As a bonus, I also don't have to worry if the first impression I am making on someone is to make them wonder if a cat peed on my clothing.
