My first vintages have arrived! I'm super excited as they are in fantastic shape. After I clean them up, they'll look beautiful. By letter/number, the Flare Tip is a '59 and the 40s SS is a '54. Having problems dating the Tech, as it has no date code. I thought that it might be from the no date code years, but it has an embossed head, which I have read only came later...any ideas from those super knowledgable folks out there? I'll clean these up and using them sounds like a good February 30 day focus! Anyway, down the rabbit hole I go...
This is what I got on Monday and Tuesday: A Worcester razor: A Top Flight Razor: These two straights were given to me as a gift - they show their age, but both are fine razors. A black General (November preorder sale): and two knots for my B-400 Brush (ordered right after Christmas): I haven't spent any money on shaving gear this year ... let's see how long I can resist
B-400 and a Tuxedo make a great brush. Which boar knot did you choose? I'm still looking for a fan rather than a bulb to get that NOS look.
It's not a boar. It's the new Cashmere synthetic - comes from the same source as the Tuxedo knot. Will use that one in tomorrow's shave.
Cool! Same texture as the Tux? I see they also have a smaller Horse & larger Tux knot available. Can't wait to see your review.
Arrived via UPS/USPS just now. More blades plus Proraso Red after shave (been wanting to try this one) and my first Simpson brush - The Colonel. May have to try the after shave and brush with this afternoon's shave.
Well, I think it might even be a little softer than the Tuxedo (if that's at all possible ). I'll tell you more tomorrow.
