  1. Crown are also a Lord product. That's the next blade up for me in this DE vs. shavette thing.
  2. Thanks for the tip. I have a couple of newish boar brushes I am kind of noncommittal about (a new-to-me Omega I've used twice and a NIB Kent boar I've tried once). As part of my brush focus, I'll be spending a few days with each in turn starting in about a week. Following your suggestion, I just worked up a good lather with both of them and left them to dry and will rinse them tomorrow. And then do it again once or twice. It will be interesting to see how they've changed when I get to them.

The Timeless OC and Route 66 Focus continues to run on smoothly. Route 66 soaps are very easy to use and the Timeless OC shaves are smooth and drama free. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.

  6. Also, sometimes when I am breaking in a new boar, every other day I will just lather it and let it sit for a while. My last one probably had a dozen lathers on it before it even hit my face.

  10. I prepped my new SOC badger brush similarly. I made several test lathers with it and let it sit overnight with lather a couple of times. This not only helps to break it in, but it also removes the odor. I actually do this for any new brush. I just keep repeating the process until the odor is gone, or nearly so.

  11. Have a great time with your Father and family Chris, :happy088:
  12. I like the feel of it in the hand and it is solidly constructed. I just don't get why the blade grip has to be so wide at the point of exposure. Wide grip plus small blade exposure = steep angle. I feel like I am always riding just at the edge of disaster.

  13. Exactly what I expect of the father of a southern samurai. Takes some pics of the BBQ too, I miss real barbecue :eatdrink020: .... and of course enjoy the weather and time with your father.

    Razorock Plissoft Brush
    Palmolive Classic Shave Stick
    Gillette SS
    Kramperts Finest Frostbite AS

A quick shave before I had to head off to the airport. I used the same Ladas blade all week in this razor, and honestly, I can't tell a difference from day one to now. The Palmolive was fantastic again this morning, as was the Kramperts. Looking forward to being home with the family for a couple of days before I turn around and this again next week. I hope everyone has a great day!
  15. Have a safe and fun trip, Chris.
  16. Happy Birthday Bama Dad!
  17. Jim, do you find the Palmolive less drying then Arko ?
  18. Last shave of the NEW SC/7 o'clock Green Focus. Went with Proraso Green Shave Cream(tube) finished with a icy cold towel and Clubman AS. For the week I brought my Parker Silvertip brush out of hibernation. Might use it as my daily driver and save my Omega 6212 for special occasions and Sunday shaves. Voskhods are up next starting Sunday. I am thinking of giving my recently found Aramis shave soap a whirl. Oh yes, stand by for continued thread shennagins. This is the last day I'm on this post so you guys'll get a break next week. TGIF y'all.

Good morning friends! Another fantastic shave was had last night with the PAL IM. This razor is so smooth yet incredibly efficient. I really focused on no pressure tonight because I think I might have over shaved a little last time. The result was an amazing 3 pass BBS. Have a great day my friends!
