We hit thirty five yesterday, and my wife got a chaise lounge out of the garage and sat on the deck in a t shirt and hiked up sweatpants for better than an hour. It reminds me of taking the family to Florida a bunch of years ago. It was -46 when we left, and majorly suck cold temps there. It was like '40's or something. Anyway, we were on the beach around St. Petersburgh, and it was a ghost town. My wife and kids are swimming all day, we were like the only people in the whole damn ocean. It was great. I have to find pictures, but we used to camp every Memorial weekend, and about half the time the ice wouldn't be all the way off the lake. The kids would stay in there until they were blue, and we would have to drag them back...... Probably get thrown into jail for that today.
I know the experience. I was born and raised in northern Maine - Presque Isle. We would go a week at a time with sub zero temperatures. I still remember my father putting a light bulb inside the engine compartment with a blanket over the top and hood down. This was inside a garage. If he didn't do it - the oil would be too thick and the engine would not start. No electric plug ins back in those days. The people here in Port Townsend, Washington - where I am living now - have no clue as to what real winter is. It will get below freezing but that means in the 20s (plus 20s). I'll go to the local grocery store wearing a t-shirt while everyone else is wearing mittens, wool hats, and over coats.
When the wife and I first started going to FL back in '85-86 one day for whatever reason the temp went down to 65 with sun. The natives were in jackets and long pants. We were in shorts and tshirts.
Currently 40 and cloudy here in the Great Garden State. High today is supposed to be 51. Weird. I almost wish that it was cold. Gives me something to complain about.
Currently 29 degrees here and cloudy. Rain in the forecast for this afternoon. High is going to be 46. That is all.
might be actually warm today-like a couple weeks ago. This "winter" has been pretty inconsistent here.
75 & sunny, very light breeze, in Austin. Couldn't buy a better day with a case of gin and a bag of quarters.
11 inches of snow today so far. Fortunately it's light and fluffy. Close to 20 inches since last weekend. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I was sitting on my patio in the Houston area, which is shielded from the sun until about 3 in the afternoon. It got so hot when the sun was hitting me I had to go inside for the AC. I'll probably grill some pork chops this evening to avoid turnin on the oven and heating up the house.
39 and rain showers. I'm working in the Shipping Dept. today(and for the rest of the week), which means I'll be outside sealing trailers. I've consigned myself to the fact, I'm just gonna be wet. Don't mean nothin', drive on.
