I totally get you! Boar, Got it . Badger, got it. And you're right on about how they really haven't changed. But synthetics are improving and coming way down in price, add a very cool handle (love the butterscotch) and wham! And new product. For $18. Gotta have it.
I hear you Amigo. You are a better man than I am. If I make it to retirement, I am looking for some place warmer than Atlanta.
Tempted, but not really that bad. Maybe they will still have some by Father's Day or something. Or better yet, maybe someone (Kerry, hint hint wink wink) will organize a killer, group buy, LE TSD brush for this year, and I can buy it and stay on NB.
SW FL, Ft Myers specifically. If I was there, I'd buy ya a Havana Rum Punch at Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grill.

Definitely the most aggressive razor I've checked out. Gap 6 is 0.065 inches which is 0.02 more than a Gillette on 9. That's a significant difference in my book. It actually starts at 0.44 at Gap 1. So basically, it starts where the Gillettes leave off.
I meant it when I said you could debark logs with it. It is also excellent at removing skin tags, moles and various facial bumps.
I had a relaxing honing session this morning. This test shave was my second shave of the day. First shave ever with this NOS beauty. Wonderful shave. Route 66 Twisted Tweed B-400 Brush by Tom Heart Columbia JWest Razor Lucky Tiger Vintage Old Spice Have fun!
Happy Anniversary January!! January 28 Mostly Shavettes Razor - 1947 Gillette Super Speed Blade - (3) Soap - Proraso Red Tub (Sandalwood) Brush - Omega Pro 48 Post - Alum What a fun day this has been. Trying to keep up with you guys while I was at work was a challenge today and I'm sure I still haven't picked up everything. But I'll get there. My assistant doesn't know much about my life here so he kept wondering what in the world had my attention on my phone and laptop. I've tried to clue him in but he's not one to keep focus too long. He can seel beds, though, so I'll keep him around for awhile. Decided to finish up the Voskhod in the '47 Super Speed for tonight's shave. It occurred to me today, for the first time, probably because I'm old, that the razor is 70 years old at this point. Yes, it's had a replate, but plenty of people have had some body work done by 70. Not sure exactly when it was made in 1947 due to the lack of date codes then, but because the center bar isn't notched it's certainly prior to July of that year when they began notching the bar. So, happy birthday to a fine, fine razor and a piece of Gillette history. Two passes only tonight as I just felt that was enough. DFS finish, alum was a bit hot on a couple of spots near the goatee but that's nothing new for me. I haven't done three shaves with a Vosky and vintage razor in awhile. Life is still good. I'm going back to the Feather SS to finish the month the next three nights and then it's off to February. I have a theme ready to go but I'm not announcing it quite yet. Here's a hint, though - I could be described by the theme. Go!
Shaving took a bit of a twist this morning. We had an event that required I be shaved at least reasonably better than just passable for the day. This meant a full head shave would be required. I put Blue Steel to the task to shave my face, getting a nice close shave with very minimal discomfort and no nicks. At this point I had a decision to make: Do I continue the rest of my head with the straight, or do I chicken out and use a cartridge razor. I chose to use the SR for the initial pass and it went remarkably well . I didn't slice any ears off or cut any chunks out of my head. That first pass didn't get as close as I did for my face and had to follow up with a cartridge to get it as close as I wanted. In all, I was pretty pleased with the results. Sadly though, I sliced myself with the cartridge razor by somehow sliding it sideways... Take away: Cartridge razors are dangerous and shouldn't be used by the inexperienced shaver.
