I'm baaaaack. Got to finish my NEW/blade Focus. No Fatboy to use, but I am going to be doing another blade Focus for the Parker 99r my neighbor gave me when his foray into wet shaving went sideways. Glad to be back!

I find when using these types of synthetics that is helps if you use a good bit of pressure when you are loading soap. try using enough pressure to splay the brush while loading.

    1 February 2017. Hump Daaay Blade/Focus Shave
This morning a new player was added. Started using my new Omega 10098. This baby is a lather producing beast. Broke out the Trumper Limes again, figuring it'll help with the smell. Which by the way isn't really that bad. Anyway, the GSB continued with it's championship performance. Did a true two passer today. Alum was a little barky. Used the icy cold towel, moisturizer and the Proraso Green AS and we're all good. Walked the puppy and pulled my freight. At work and lovin' life. Have a good day all!

February 1 (Wednesday) - PAL blade in Fatboy

    Gillette Fatboy on 3
PAL Gold Thin Hollow Ground carbon ( 28)
    Faithful old drugstore boar brush
The Eternal Tub of TOBS Avocado Cream ( croap )
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Lavender

For my first trial of the PAL carbon blade in the Fatboy instead of the SuperAdjustable, I went with a sure thing for everything else. No surprises elsewhere.

As for the PAL blade ... shave 28 in the new razor felt exactly like shave 27 in the old one. no discernible difference in the way the blade behaved. Smooth good shave with zero irritation. Almost an anticlimax.

I prefer the Black Beauty to the Fatboy by a tiny margin. The head is a bit slimmer and a bit handier around my nose. But as John Wayne said in Rio Bravo when asked to compare two rival gunslingers' abilities:. "I'd hate to live on the difference."

Have a good Wednesday and a great new Focus Month, everyone!

    Razor: S2 Super Adjustable 109 (5,4)
    Blade: GSB (3)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free

For today's shave, I moved back into more familiar ground with a Gillette Adjustable. This particular one was part of the PIF from @Morman Bridge and I was a bit curious too see how it compared to the U1 I've used in the past. The blade was the same GSB from the last two shaves with the English Tech.

As expected the shave was much less harsh than with the Tech, but I definitely did get some harshness from the GSB. Frankly, this has me a bit confused as the GSB had been one of my "go-to" blades. I can only assume that either I got a duff one or something in my routine is messing me up. For tomorrow, I'll move on to a different blade and, at some point, give the English Tech another go.

A DFS, anyway, though I did partially reopen yesterday's nick. (I honestly would have been shocked if I hadn't.) Not the best start to February, but not a bad one either...

Hi guys-I hope I qualify, based on the rules. I'm afraid I'm no "Johnny One-Note" when it comes to my shaves. But that's part of my focus-to get real comfortable with a rotation of my stuff. Also to get comfortable with the 65-Slim, my first DE since I began shaving as a teen. I wouldn't win a gold medal in the "Den Olympics", due to my small bathroom. But you'd never see me say something like "Well, it'll be a Stirling month for me". February is a busy month for me-my car inspection, the Westminster Dog Show(need a lot of coffee for both nights), the final quarter before turning 60....and now, of course.....getting serious AND having fun with my shaving routione. Let the shortest month begin!!

Yeah that murderer's row in there is pretty sweet. And that was done with random.org when I set the order so I didn't even stack the deck. Throw a Voskhod in on the end of that and I may disappear into shave nirvana.

You are officially qualified! Looks like you have a lot to accomplish in the shortest month and the easiest part will be that '65 Slim.

Well, I didn’t have time to touch up the straight I used Monday, so I grabbed a razor I have only used once before. Soap Commander sample use two. One of the issues I have with samples a lot of times is that I don’t load enough, and end up with a watery soup for a lather. This time I loaded the brush about 3 times longer than I would with a full tub of soap. Slowly added water as I worked it in the bowl. Got enough thick and smooth lather to shave, wash my car, and shave the dog. Performance of this soap is top notch. I am not getting any scent from it at all, other than the superfats. Could just be a very old sample. Have to say, I love this razor. Three passes and a solid DFS. My face, jaw, and chin are BBS, but my neck has a few spots. Since there was no scent on the soap, I grabbed my Holy Black aftershave. Great scent, and an outstanding post shave feel. Don’t have any meetings today, so the heavy scent doesn’t matter. This one has actual whiskey in it, so I have to be careful using it.

Adam, did you ever get the irritation issues with your neck resolved? I saw this video yesterday:

It was a slightly older sample, but maybe just about a year old. Sorry the scent has worn off! I would've sent you something else if I had known. Glad you like the performance!

I'm starting to wonder if, back in the 60's, Gillette got rid of excess 195 stock by dumping it at the Fort Polk PX. There must be some reason that you have been so lucky at finding them. (Not that I'm complaining... :))
