Day 2.... Much improvement

@PickledNorthern so I took some of your suggestions as well as the video, and definitely had a noticeable difference. i started soaking the puck when I got home from work in a warm bowl of water, and then added some water to the top of it. I wetted just the tips of the brush, and left some water on the puck and went to down applying a bit more pressure. Right off the bat I noticed a difference, and started getting some lather. I did it right on the puck, and it kinda started getting everywhere. I still have some progress to go, as it looked like it was evaporating off my face towards the end, but it was definitely the best lather I've been able to get since I started wet shaving.

On a different note, how do I add pictures? I clicked on the picture icon and put the link in, but it didn't show up. I don't know if it was too big, or if Google Photos was blocking it or something. So any help here would be appreciated.

Paul, I noticed your question didn't get answered. Adam did some work related traveling last month. At some point he caught up his reading & shave reports with several shaves listed in one post. No such post as Historian exists at this time. We let the website server do that because we are all too busy Ruling & Focusing!

If you have an Android phone you can take photos and upload a photo directly from your phone - using the Tapatalk App. I don't have an Iphone, but it seems to be the same there. From a Windows computer find the "Upload a File" button at the bottom of the your text here box. Files must be less than 1mb so you may need to make adjustments before they will take. Either resize the whole photo, crop, or adjust the file type to .GIF. The Tapatalk App doesn't require all that extra stuff, it's built in.

 

Ditto on the Rubie. And Sharp Star? Absolutely one of the best. Limited production for a year only but man is it a great blade. I have 285 in the den and want to add more for the time when the NOS stock runs out.

Well, the USPS delivered today and the Cajun wild-caught Fatboy is now safely along the banks of the Missouri River. The pictures don't do it justice.

The "questionably usable" blades are Gillette Stainless in the classic dispenser, as you can see. It looks like there are two blades left and there is a bit of rust visible in spite of them being stainless. The fact that they aren't carbon and, therefore in theory, should remain usable over time does raise my curiosity. Maybe a part of MAYhem in a couple months? We'll let my brain continue to work on the possibilities. The razor itself is in really great shape. I'm more than pleased with it. Looks good, no brassing or other metal damage that I can see and it operates perfectly. Love it! Big thanks to the Fatboy Hunter, @RyX for rescuing this one and accepting some humble soap in exchange. Now, let's see how it shaves.

Arko and the Omega for another ridiculously easy and bountiful lather. On the first pass I can already tell why people love this razor. I have it set on 6, as this is day two on the Indian Gillette, so I'm judging the blade first and razor second, but it's impossible to ignore how smooth this is. Amazingly so. I've always considered the Aristocrat (46-47) to be the finest Gillette in my collection. The Slim has been a great addition but I have held the Aristocrat in a bit higher esteem. I believe the Fattie may take the crown. Three passes and, other than some self-induced irritation from adding pressure to a heavy razor (78 grams w/o the blade), all was well. Better than well. The baby is in the house again and I couldn't be happier.

I'll finish the blade out tomorrow on 9 and then I'm going to take a few days to test drive the razor with some different blades and see what it can really do. Just can't help myself.

 

It would be an easy change though. Just drop the "s" and "w".

Day Two



This stainless Parker is growing on me, the heft of the steel makes it glide better than some lighter Shavettes I've tried. I really like the feel of the Magic in my hand, and it gives great shaves...but this razor is a cut above the Magic. Shark SS, a common Barber blade was the choice. I used these blades as one and done, just as barbers do, and the edges are fine for one day. Two passes for the DFS. Sometimes I think we don't talk skin stretching enough, as it's a boon to all razor styles. Pretty good night, I hooked up a new effect to my amp and spent about a hour playing with the Gretsch and another on today's bass lesson. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

It's always a great shave when the Veg is in the picture.

 

Hard Core Veg. Still in the original bottle. Our Samurai is a Purest.

 

And perhaps able to regenerate original Veg in original bottles........scary good.

 

I confess: that bottle is the under counter supply. The Veg actually applied had been decanted for weeks.
