I think the highest I had my Slim to date was 5. I'll try working it up to a 6 with the Astra.

maybe 3, 4, but it's hard to determine since I end up doing more with the disposeABLE each time.

One other comment, in my experience, Riding the Cap with these razors really helps make them more efficient, not to mention more comfortable.

When I was talking about turning the Slim down yesterday, I guess I meant for your second pass, in order to sort of practice.

Sorry if I didn't express it cleary, didn't mean to give you a bum steer.

Good Morning. Last night I had my first shave with my newly acquired Fatboy. Shaving with it was like reuniting with a long lost friend. I had absolutely no issues, the angle was very intuitive, at 5 it was not overly aggressive but had just enough blade feel. I can see why these razors are so loved. Five shaves on the Bic and it is still going strong. This knot still has a lot of badger funk to it though, I think I'm going to have to shampoo it out a couple more times. Do you guys have any tips on defunking badger knots ? This is my first one so still very much a noob with them. Have a great day my friends!

I should mention-without my glasses, it's hard for me to readjust. I've seen people shave with their glasses on, perhaps I should try that another "focus" for this month.

I really don't pick up a lot of cloves at all in the scent. I did add some menthol crystals to give a cooling effect to the aftershave.

    Easy way to post pics:

Head on over to imgsafe.org , upload your pic there. When its done uploading click on it to open it up and copy the url(web address). Come back to the den and click the image icon next to the smiley faces. past the url in the dialog box and click insert. done! no need to resize the pics or do anything else to them.

Hey, that's great. My first and only(so far)Bay Rum A.S. was Stephan. I was told to expect a bit of a clove smell, but they made sure we knew that it would be blended in with other scents. I may try the Captain at some time, thanks to your commentary.

When I started wet shaving, I read all the posts and watched the videos saying to start with the razor handle at a 30 degree angle off of a line perpendicular to the ground. I shaved this way for many months and got decent results. This thread, though, kept bringing up "Ride the Cap" so I eventually did, using an angle much more shallow than 30 degrees. It was basically putting more of the rounded cap on your face and less of the guard bar. The results were amazing. It was smoother, less tugging, and just plain more comfortable. On top of that, the whisker reduction was far better.

You have to play with the angles to get it right. A lot of people will recommend holding the razor parallel to the ground and rotating it slightly down as you start your stroke until you can just hear the whiskers getting cut. With a little experimental and practice, a good angle becomes second nature.

A Fabulous Pickled Unicorn loves a moss rock? It seems like this could be the start of a great story.

My experience was a lot like yours. I was mistakenly using the angle of the handle. I was about 30 degrees away from parallel to my face, not the floor. The angle terminology threw me off. Anyway, I know much more now. But with injectors the angle is sort of built-in so I don't have to worry about it as much.

I do all my pictures through my phone. I don't use the TapaTalk app, I just use the regular website. Your pictures have to be less than 1mb to upload. I take the picture, then do a screen grab of it on my iPhone. That reduces the size enough that it will post. Its the fastest way I have found to do it.
