To my nose, it is a little powder after some drying. Not in a bad way, but just a little there. I actually find it pleasant. I have not tried the soap, so it is hard for me to compare.

I used to buy up a lot of razors, but tend to try them and sell them off. I only have a couple of each type that are keepers, and with each type, I really do seem to lose interest when I find that perfect one or two. In SE's, the General was it for me. Like I said, really no place else to go until I head into straights, but that's a while out.

Oddly enough, I happened upon the Citrus Musk at Burlington outlet. Usually all I can find is Pinaud.

I don't mind a little powder, but even the most minuscule hint of it vaults it into the "old man" category for my wife.

Have to give her a little slack though, she is an RN at a nursing home, and not only sees a lot more of old men than anyone person deserves in a lifetime, but some of those old codgers hit on the nurses like they are Sam Malone.

Pickles got overcome by The Veg. I'm sure he'll recover eventually.

Kudos to her! My wife is the same way about powder notes, instant "old man"

Thank you, Charlie. If I am comparing shave sticks, then the Palmolive is better in that it is actually purchased as a shave stick. The homemade sticks I made with Stirling are a little soft, so you definitely smear a bunch on when rubbing your face. From a performance standpoint, the Stirling is better. I find it slicker and the post shave feel of Stirling soaps is among the best I have tried. Palmolive is great, and you could do a lot worse, but it doesn't quite match the Stirling. Of course the price advantage is on Palmolive's side.

Thank you all for the kind words. Mechanically the razor is excellent shape. I have always had an issue with Gillette TTO razors. I just find most all of them to be overly harsh shaving for the efficiency level. For example, my Slim on 9 is less efficient and much more harsh than a Gillette New LC. I am constantly seduced by the good looks of the Gillette TTO razors only to be disappointed in the results. I could spend time trying different blades but that has never made a difference in the past. It seems I just prefer 2 or 3 piece DE razors. My plan are to finish out the week and us this setup through Saturday morning. Who knows a miracle might happen.

Counting down days/shaves, waiting for a couple of things: # of shaves it took to get a BBS, and how many til my scars have faded enough that you can't really see them. Getting a little closer to both every day.

    Feather Super Professional (2)
    Semogue Owners Club Two-band Finest
    Soap Commander Love
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Floid Vigoroso

Inspired by my shavette brothers, I deployed my Feather AC today. Two passes (WTG and ATG), and I have a close, comfortable, and bloodless shave. The only difference using this razor is that I have to step up my concentration and work a little bit harder. I stated yesterday that I use no pressure with this razor, and that's true everywhere except around my chin. I have found that this area needs a bit of force to "push the blade" through the whiskers on the bulb of my chin. The key for me is to stretch the skin, hold a very shallow angle, shave slowly, take very short strokes, and re-lather and repeat a couple of times.

I've watched numerous videos of barbers using shavettes. The best ones, in my opinion, shave confidently and really stretch the skin. It looks like they're simply wiping off the lather. That what's I try to do. I also approach the shave with the idea that I'll take as much time as I needed. For me, that usually translates into an additional 5 or 10 minutes. I use alum liberally on the fingertips of both my hands. It helps with skin stretching and also gripping the razor handle.

Soap Commander is a winner. At first, the lather appears thin and bubbly. After working it for 90 seconds in a face lather, it has the perfect consistency of slick yogurt. The alum was cool with no hot spots, and I finished with Floid Vigoroso. I like the light menthol/powdery scent.

I hope you all are having a fantastic week.

Soap Commander is some good stuff. I have the Passion and really like it. I also have Fortitude. Unfortunately I want all the others!! The new Honor scent sounds good, and Vision is nice. It's top-notch soap!

@Paul Turner - Have you abandoned the Slim? I see you're using the DisposABLE tomorrow.

Perry, Soap Commander Love is rose scented. It's my first time with a rose-scented product, and it adds some variety to the Den.

I had a sample of Rose that I tried about a year ago. I'd like to smell a full tub though because the sample was hard to get a full grasp of the scent.

It's very much a strongly-scented rose. I wasn't sure about it at first, but my Bride likes it. The scent actually pairs well with many of my aftershaves. I plan to finish out the container and move on to something else, though.

No, still have it. And will always have it. In fact, will bring it up again Friday when I get back to a shave soap.

It is great. Every one I have tried. Vision was the first one I ever got, and it reminds me of clean laundry outside on a clothesline.

All of the SC's have such light, fresh scents. Love them.

Yep, good stuff. Fortitude is really great. Tobacco, hay, and rum. Really enjoyable.

The problem is that if I have any type of AD it would be SAD. I love shaving soaps. Razors are cool enough. Brushes don't intrigue me enough to collect. Soaps are the intriguing part to me. So I have to be careful! I have about 35 full tubs/tubes sitting in my den now. I'll never finish them off!
