I bought a Blackbird and a Rockwell early in the year, and no DE's since. I did buy into the Rockwell Model T kickstarter, but I will likely just sell that one NIB and come out ahead on something for once.

Bought several SE's keeping two, Mongoose and General

I bought a ton of injectors trying them out, three will stay. The Supply was the only one that cost anything.

    Then three shavettes.

Everything else has already been PIFed, traded, sold, or is going to be sold. I will probably keep a couple of loaner/beater DE's I guess, but nothing much.

I pretty much burned out my razor AD a couple few years ago. I had my day of buying everything under the sun like a mad man.

    Razor: PAL Adjustable
    Blade: Chick
    Soap: Uncle Jon's Silk Road
    Post Care: Thayers Witch Hazel
    Osage Rub
    Alum
    Aftershave: Uncle Jon's Silk Road

First try with this brand of soap and I'm very impressed. This is the tallow version; easy to lather, great protection, very slick. The scent is incredible; vanilla, cinnamon and spices. I also pick up a light orange scent. I put on the AS this morning, several compliments at work. 12 hours later a nice lady in the grocery store told me I smelled nice, very good staying power. It's an excellent product. Zero irritation from the PAL tonight. I might have to try more from Uncle Jon's.

I applied the Osage tonight but considering the staying power of this AS it's going to be difficult to see if it extends. Have a great day folks!

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

The thread is a handful this month but I'm not complaining. Just catching up 5 pages at a time whenever I get a break from work. LOL Or at night like now. I"ll tell you what - we can both chase it and maybe run it down together!

It is definitely possible that the change in soap improved the shave, especially if you felt it was slicker and more protective than the AOS was. Nothing wrong with making that small change even in a rule if you learn something. And it looks like you did! Well done!!

GSB in the Parker yielded a very nice two pass. Lea is a tallowate soap and quite slick and protective, and fits well in the value focus I have going. Will break it up tomorrow, and give the Fat Boy a day in the sun. Very busy day, even got in about 90 solid minutes of bass work on twelve bar blues stuff, pretty good for a Wednesday. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Thursday!

    Fatboy February!!!!!

    February 8
    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (3)
    Blade - gillette-silver-blue.jpg (1)
    Soap - Tabac
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Post - Alum

On to a legendary blade with the Fattie. Gillette Silver Blue is regarded by many as the best blade made in St. Petersburg. Well, at least since they stopped producing the Super Platinum (blue wrapper) there. Teflon coated and sharp it's extremely smooth. It's also a bit on the higher end of the price range but not as high as Feather and Kai. At one point it was thought they had stopped production, and they may have. But, it has been back in production for a couple of years if it was stopped. For those who don't find Voskhod to their liking (heretics!) this is a blade that may suit you better if you're looking for a Russian Teflon.

Staying with Tabac for the time being as I try to work it down to match the amount left to some leftover Mitchell's. I thought I had more Mitchell's to grind but not so much. So it may be awhile until I get this puck down to the point I can Fatbac it. The Omega had no problem with the lather.

First pass was smooth as silk, which Teflon is for me. Teflon is my preferred coating. I hadn't used a GSB for awhile so it was a nice reminder of how smooth the blade is. Second pass also smooth, though I reopened the cut on my right jaw from the Feather. Probably a little too much pressure. That and I had forgotten about it. Other than that no issues on 3.

Alum was spotty hot but nothing to write home about. I do have one spot on my right cheek that is a bit tender. Probably a close call with the Feather that is now touchy. I'll watch for it tomorrow when the razor is wide open again.

Good first day of the week for me today in spite of seeing absolutely not one single customer. I had lots of other things to do with this time of year though. President's Day Sale is upon us and then our usual early spring slack period when we change out some beds. The difference this year - we'll be changing about half of our floor out. So lots of planning and shuddering to do.

Have a great Thursday all! We had blowing snow all day today so I figure the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg is a good finish!

Rose is a nice change up! 150 years ago is was considered the height of masculine fragrances. It's interesting how tastes and sensibilities change over time.
