Some before and after pics of my first Tuckaway set.

I now understand why Rodd is so enamored of these razors. Not only is this a beautiful looking set, but its heft belies its diminutive stature. I have not yet shaved with it (it is scheduled for tomorrow), but I have little doubt that I will like it since it possesses that wonderful "New Standard" open-comb design.

Nice! But let me get this straight...you "schedule" your razors?! :)

    :rofl

No, not exactly. Once it is cleaned and sterilized, I generally use every new razor that I buy on the next available shave. This one wasn't ready for today, so it's "scheduled" for tomorrow. Otherwise, I just use whatever strikes my fancy at the moment.

Very nice! I just saw a Cavalier set yesterday for the first time. The head on the Cavalier look a bit heavier than this.

can you point me to it? I don't recognize the name. And if they look even a bit like these, I want one. :D

    This is a cavalier set:

The set I spotted was missing one of the tubes but the rest was in tact. I would guess that about 95% of the gold looked to be remaining and the head & underside was very intricately engraved as well.

Edit - I think it was around $30US at the antique shop.

2nd edit - They did have a complete 1920's set also in gold for $25 with the tubes and such. That one wasn't in as good a shape.

Very cool. Prices seem good. I had not seen one before. I like the engraving.
