SDM has been known to cause irritation. I've seen Rod mention it in a post or two.

Fist time using a Astra SS. During the shave I was thinking meh this blade is nothing special. Finished the shave without incident. Cleaning up with a little witch hazel and noticed, wow I got a really close shave. No sting from the AS and I was smooth! Have a great day my friends!

Taylor's cream goes a long way. An almond sized dab is too much. Good lather in the suribachi stirred up with a Whipped Dog knot in the solid aluminum handle. I quit keeping track of how many shaves from a blade. The Sharp Edge Yellow shaved well. Super Platinum Black (thank you John @Sparrow!) felt a little harsh but I suspect it will mellow out next use. Fat Boy on 9/6 for WTG/everything else left a nick on my chin that alum shut down. The Cedarwood scent meshed well with P&G Old Spice AS. CCS+, maybe even a DFS.
Incoming UPS shipment may set me up for a Menthol Monday - Proraso Green AS lotion.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

I'm not sure, I think the post was in the Stirling Exchange. If not I'm sure you could ask him.

So attached are the pictures from tonight. The bigger container did make a difference.

So the above pictures are what I whipped up before I shaved.

The below pictures are what my brush looked like after the first and second passes.

So this is the point where I say "Yeah! I owned Colonel Conk! Take that!"

And then one of you vets come in and be like "nice try, close but you still need to work it."

And I would agree. I need to rewatch the video, but it still seemed to be a bit tacky on the face, which I think means need to work it a bit more.

I lathered mainly on the puck in the container. It was pouring out of the brush, which I wasn't kind to. I don't think mob bosses beat their victims has hard as I was on that brush. Lather was flying off.

So with all that, what do you do with the lather still on the puck? Wipe it clean or just leave it?

Only negative aspect of tonights shave was I cut myself real good on my upper lip. Was trying to get this single, stubborn hair and my angle was wrong and man did I feel it. Not huge, but definitely a weeper.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

Day 4 and write up of Simpson Tulip in Super:

For the final shave with this brush I went with MdC Fougère with some liquid lanolin added to the mix. I could not resist using the new 'toy' again so I went with Koraat with the Splash design.

Since it was a leisurely Sunday shave I loaded the MdC heavily and made tons of lather, this is a big brush and it will holds lots of lather, but it is great about realizing the lather. This brush is on of my favorites, very soft, very big, releases the lather and works with hard soaps to creams and splays enough to stay very hot in the scuttle.

I good shave and everything was going smoothly so I added a 5th pass against the grain. On a tickle from the alum prevented this from being an epic shave.

Nice job on the lather. You're gettin' there! Just keep experimenting with the water/soap ratio until you get what you want. I like a thick, yogurt consistency lather, and I'll add drops of water throughout the shave to keep it from getting too dry.

I leave the lather on the puck for the next day. It re-hydrates with no problems.

Sorry about the weeper. Unfortunately, they happen. You'll eventually get your angles figured out, and they'll happen less often. I have to be really careful on my upper lip.

    Nice job! Stick with it!

Yeah, it's not the first time I've sliced my upper lip. For this one hair, it was just stubborn. And it is always the same hair.

Always nice to get that surprisingly smooth shave from a blade like that.

How is the Sir Hare soap? It seems like it has been popping up on the Amazon adds quite a bit lately (at least to this shopper's Amazon, almost like they know I am not supposed to buy anything).
