I walked down ahead of an expected fierce storm with a 55 gallon trashbag of recyclables. I was the first one there and helped Victoriano, the guatamalan attendant clean up before opening at 10. By 9:55 there must have been 7 guys, mostly young, looking at their cells for the time with deep sighs of angst and rolling of eyes having to wait. Senorha Delgado walked up, 70 something and tired from lugging TWO sacks of recyclables and a canvas backpack not unlike my old W German rucksack. She speaks about as much english as I do spanish. Victor announced he was opened and reached for my bag. I interceded. 'Ladies first' and placed her two sacks in front of mine. Deep grumbles from the earnest young men on digital devises. I think we stole a whole 3 minutes from their lifespans. She received her receipt, placed the pack down and produced TWO premade lunches of handmade chile rellanos, tamales, rice and beans with a dangerous looking pepper, patted my arm and walked away. Did I mention racing out without any breakfast? Madre a Dios! muis bueno! and I left the line hungry to spend their gains at McDonalds on a egg mcmuffin.
I built a recycling station for discarded targets, from a lighting panel (the plastic grid that covers fluorescent fixtures), wooden dowels, glue & duct tape.
Changed the oil in the woman's car. Then watched a M*A*S*H marathon. Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk
Finished a drawer to hold my table saw blades and dado set. Began preliminary work laying out a drawer for the push sticks, table insets, and feather boards. The drawers fit in a cabinet that fits under the table extension. The cabinet has been finished for a few weeks. One drawer done, four to go.
Worked. Parent teacher conference to talk about my son's behavior. He's 150% boy with 200% energy. Shower, full 2 pass head shave, and a 2 pass face shave in under 45 minutes. Came out of the bathroom and everyone is asleep, which is a good thing so I don't have to hear the complaining about watching the M*A*S*H marathon. Lol Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk
The M*A*S*H set is near me, or was until a fire destroyed it.The show went on longer than the actual war.
They complain we don't help around the house but somehow changing the oil in THIER car doesn't count. Plus add to the list cleaning the cutters, washing their car, fixing the steps to the deck, painting the basement floor, replacing the kitchen faucet, redoing all the kitchen cabinets (a royal pain in the butt by the way), cutting and chopping 2 cords of firewood, and all the other things we do - that somehow don't count. Ok I'll get off my soap box.
When I was stationed in Korea back in 1975 - I ( a young Lieutenant at the time) attended the decommissioning party of the actual 4077 th MASH. This was the unit the movie and TV show were based on. It was the next compound over from where I was based. It was one hell of a party. I just hope there are no photos of that evening still existing.
Through my actions and speech, thinking I was being helpful, I inadvertently brought on a feeling of Saudade to a new Lady Friend. I apologized and hope I didn't hurt her feelings.
Wow - this is deep stuff. Saudade is something that one can not predict when dealing with another soul. Just be there for her.
Our neighbor's house was broken into last week. I installed this gate latch on the side yard fence. Wife feels a bit safer now. The fence is less than 6 ft tall, so a determined burgular is not going to be slowed down much. But it should be enough to keep menacing riffraff out. Installation was more difficult than I expected because the gate itself needed a lot of modifications to beef up the structure and get everything solidly aligned. Came out nice though, if I do say so myself.
Finished taking the carpet and padding out of my living room, now to get the last of the trim up. Picking up the wood flooring tomorrow to get started on Friday. And just like everyday, I find a way to lose blood.
