How many buy creams and soaps just for the aromatherapy aspect

I'm a sucker for a good scent which is odd considering I'd day I'm smell sensitive.
Really hate artificial overpowering scents such as cheap perfumes.
On the hand really like moderate natural scents such as leather, tobacco, cedar, mild eucalyptus and alike.
I tend to purchase new creams or soaps and use them as mood lifters and enhancers, not that I'm running out just like the fresh enhancing feeling.
There are some soaps and creams that I tend to use in the summer (drying) vs winter (moisturizing).
There are also some fails that I received as a gift or ordered online without the smell test.
I keep one wife, why limit my other options. :happy005:

I like refreshing scents for morning like citrus, mint, menthol but I prefer more relaxed warm scents at night like lavender or sandalwood.

I do have quite a few soaps, but I do not have a "go to" or favorite, nor do I have a least desirable. I do not segregate my scents into seasons. They all get used in the rotation, a different soap every day. I like the variety.

I like the way you thinks.

Yes, I get things because of the scent. There are some conflicts with the plugin air fresheners everywhere (not my idea). There are some sites devoted to scents and describe the ways to assess a scent, I am learning from them.

I pick whatever scent I am in the mood for at that time. Sometimes I will do a theme (menthol Mondays, tobacco tues. etc) but it is nice to have a variety of scents to choose from IMO. It is my favorite part of wet shaving is that there are so many different scented soaps/creams out there that add a bit of zen to the shave.

Well, sandalwood is a favorite so that's the first I ordered. I'm using Kiss My Face Lavender Shea though as a short term fix for what he thought was my unacceptable Williams situation. Can't say I'm a big fan of the Lavender Shea, but at least it's not offensive. Now if my pomade company, Suavecito made soap... Man, I love that smell.

Holy crap! They do. Anyone use it? Well, you know what my first soap order is going to be. ;)

Those plugins are horrible things. The airborne oils released by those plugins coat and collapse the villie in one's nose making them more susceptible to pathogens. Gives me a headache anyway.

Back to scents, http://www.basenotes.net/ is all about fragrances. You may enjoy those forums, too.

Ask Men describes a simpler method of testing fragrances, about my level. The same process can be applied to soaps, after shaves, chili, etc.

I'm kinda sorry I mentioned the plugins. I really do not want to hair off after the perceived health benefits or hazards of the products we use. No arguments that it gives you headaches. Neat PCC car avatar. Colors look like Onario? I miss Philly and PCC cars and diesel-exhaust flavored soft pretzels.

I don't purchase on scent alone, performance is more. Important to me.

I'm dating my here but in 1988 I was fortunate to visit a few of the The Great Perfume Houses of France . The foundation providers of base scents and developers the finest of eau de toilette.
Also got to know what they do with North American beavers and Castoreum. :shocked003: Even got to meet (French: le nez) perfumer sometimes referred to affectionately as a Nose is a term used for an expert on creating perfume compositions.

I'm a lot like you. I'm quite sensitive to scents, but love certain ones. I think it makes sense, though: I'm not scent averse; it's just that my sensitivity make me extremely picky about the scents I like. But when I find one I like, I really enjoy it.

Per the topic question, I guess you could say I do buy products at least in part for their scents. For instance, my go-to line these days is D.R. Harris sandalwood. While the products themselves perform excellently, they don't necessarily perform better than others that cost less. But the scent puts them in another league, I would say. To me, it's not so much about "aromatherapy" as just finding a scent I identify with, which ends up being "my" scent.

after shaving with crap the last 20 years,i think a certain scent is part of the" old school, radio on,mans time out for a good shave" experience.i now always try to make it an event, not a chore.starting a prep for a night out at darts, dinner out, what have you.very fulfilling, different mood, different scent, part of the enjoyment.

While I choose on performance I do pick the scent to match my mood or weathe or....

For scents my primary focus is on perfume.

While I wouldn't want a soap/cream with with poor performance and a great scent.

I would settle for great performance and a OK scent to my nose.

Luckily with the way things are going we can find the best of both worlds.
I enjoy cologne and natural scents both

    Some of my favorites are:
    Bulgarian lavender
    Verbena
    Lime
    Mint
    Menthol
    Vetiver
    Fougere
    Pipe tobacco
    Coconut
    Buy rum
    Barbershop
    Vanilla

What I like about a good scented soap is that its therapeutic and sets me in a good mood to start my morning.

I also do not have a cream rotation. I open the vanity and reach in and grab one. Tomorrow I'm thinking Proraso Green, but who knows, it could be Trumper's Limes.
