I ran across this video showing how to keep your Gillette adjustable razor lubricated. I've only lubricated my FB once using mineral oil. Just curious if anyone here takes the time to lubricate their adjustables?

"Controllably aggressive". I like that term for the Fatip. Describes it very well.

Sometimes if SWMBO likes it, it's worth embracing. Because we all know the old wisdom.....If Momma ain't happy.....

Voskhod is capable of going more than three shaves. I've used one for 7 and it was just beginning to fade on me. I normally go three and out on any blade just to avoid the chance of it losing its edge. The irritation is probably still due to adjusting to using a "real" razor. But figuring out if a different soap helps is good thinking. Nice to see you doing so well!!

The quick answer is "no". However, I haven't had adjustables around all that long so hadn't thought of it.

Extremely warm here as well, though I saw it from inside the windows. All was quiet in Mattress Firm O'Fallon as well. Unfortunately, that's not the kind of day I wanted since I had to be there on my day off.

After seeing @twhite & @Jayaruh craft some handsome handles I started thinking about making knots. Here on the South Coast wild hogs are a pest issue. Somewhere there's a slaughterhouse - I ought to get bristle for free. Renewable resource horse hair came from my Texas aunt's rescued pets. I've done a bit of Googling, but no one is sharing the secrets to actually setting the bristle/hair in the glue bump. I'm considering epoxy (JB Weld) or CA (superglue). It's a low priority project but one day all the bits & bobs will come together.

I retired from a State mental hospital. On one of my first days on the job, I saw a guy riding around the campus on a motorcycle. It was about 35 degrees and pouring rain. I asked the man I was working with, who that crazy fool was. He told me that it was one of our psychiatrists.

17 here. As I learned to control the razor, blade life increased. But when learning I was three and out at a max. Don't wanna confuse a dying blade with inadequate pressure.

Playing with the new brush and soap

    Soap - Stirling Barbershop
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

Taking the new brush for another spin tonight and trying my third Stirling sample. Barbershop this time and this scent is pretty nice. It really does remind me of days in Darryl's Barbershop in good old Hugoton, Kansas. There were two shops in town. Darryl's and Harold's. Darryl was the young guy and my Dad liked him, so, he was my barber as a boy. Harold was already probably in his 50's at the time (so naturally I thought he was ancient). A bit more conservative and less talkative. I'd ride my bike down to Darryl's with the money in my pocket for the haircut. Go in, sit down, wait your turn while you listened to all the men talk and have a good time. Sometimes a friend would show up so we could read comic books together and talk about bikes, fishing, the usual stuff back then.

The tonic Darryl put on my hair after the cut was very much a part of how this soap smells. Also the Barbicide. Of course, back then it was just the funny blue stuff. And finally, I picked up the baby powder from that big floppy brush he'd hit me with afterwards. Good times, good memories, good scent.

Now, onto the brush. Can't fault the handle at all. Beautiful work. Solid. Perfect. The Maggard Synthetic knot - I'm still getting used to it but it is an amazing thing, really. Seems to need much less soap to produce a quality face lather. In fact, when I loaded it I thought it was very light. Not enough for even two passes. Not only was it enough, but I got the third pass as well and squeezed out enough for a fourth if I wanted. Dry brush on a little water on the soap - how in the world does it lather like that?! It doesn't really splay 99% of the time but still produces a great lather. Slick, rich, and in three passes with a brand new Sharp Star in the Fatboy the baby showed up and said hello just to mock me for my doubt in this knot.

I'm still not sure about it but I'm getting there. Awesome shave tonight. And, I finally get a day off tomorrow after a very successful weekend sale!
