Next brush is an oh so soft Shavemac silver tip in a zebra beehive handle.

It was a cold nights so out with the kettle and scuttle. Route 66 performs great even in high situations so it was the software of choice. A big 7/8 Koraat was this whisker whacker of the day.

I usually load the R66 direct from the tub but today I decided to scoop some, well allot out and into the scuttle. It took some extra work since I used allot of product and I was rewarded with wet slick lather all over the bathroom. The Koraat even have a few shaves on it still has a very smooooth edge and sharp. Given the wet, slick soap and the sweet edge I felt an epic shave was in the works..... and an epic shave it was.

Probably some truth in advertising at times in there. Of course, the low prices aren't the ones I want to talk about. The biggest sale for the store this time was just under $7K. Yes, for one bed. My personal record is just over $13K for a bed. $18K for a total sale. But hey, compared to a new house those are fairly low prices. Boo-yah!

I seem to remember seeing a youtube vid on knot making. It was just a quick blurb. If I remember correctly. The built it up in sections. Starting in the center of course, they got a bit going. Then tied that section and added more around it. Continuing tying them together. They were taking care to create a nice Bulb shape.

Once you have it to the size you want you then could make a nice small shallow mold and set it in epoxy.

Take this with a grain of salt. This could all be a hallucination I had once

Please go for it. I for one would love to see how it goes. It might prompt me to give it a go. The only hair I will have a available will be some little fefe dogs. Not too sure the owners will be down with me running around a dog part with shears.

I might end up on the evening news.

No such thing as too much soap.

I agree. My biggest issue learning to lather was inadequate amounts of soap.

Kudos on the @Jayaruh brush handle! Looks good. Once you get used to lathering and shaking a synthetic dry, I am telling you...

Don't go to Etsy or search for APShaveCo.
Avoid all thoughts of Tuxedo knots. Don't do it.
They ship from Canada, the wait is excruciating.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

I've sent Ivan and Yuri to Canada to help keep their product out of circulation here, based on your recommendation. If necessary I may have to issue Cartel orders to corner the market. Just to avoid anyone having any trouble you know. Those are nice looking knots. I've heard great things about Ubersoft - and if those are really a hybrid of Plisson (which we all know the reputation of) and Ubersoft, well, then, the fewer who have them the better. Right?

It's for the best. Why diversify, when one can integrate instead ?

    February 21 (Tuesday ) - equipment focus - Fatip Grande #3

    Fatip Grande / Topaz Platinum ( 3 )
Chinese hardwood w/ Maggard 24mm plissoft knot
The Eternal Tub of TOBS Avocado Cream ( croap )
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Aftershave

The Maggard synthetic is a great knot. A few quick swirls of a damp brush on the croap and I had enough product to fill my lather bowl (a horn quaich about 5" across by 2" deep). Great yogurty texture to the lather, and the brush has enough backbone to do a wonderful job facepainting. It totally puts the Surrey badger I used yesterday to shame. Hard to believe it's a $7 knot.

With my skin at stake, I loaded the Fatip Grande with an already used Topaz Platinum blade and let her rip. A fairly rough blade in an aggressive razor - what could go wrong? Actually ... not too much today. The blade felt rough but the razor didn't let it get out of control. The alum did sting mildly all across my face and neck, but I only had one small weeper at the lower left corner of my mouth where I sometimes get them if I am careless and the alum sealed that one. Otherwise no blood, pain, suffering or drama.

I did pitch the blade after this shave. I can get a week or more out of most blades I've tried, but the Topaz Platinum seems at best a two and done blade for me. I'm just sorry I bought 100 of them even if they did seem cheap at the time.

Since the Fatip Grande worked so well for me, I think I will haul out the Fendrihan Scientist tomorrow and see if I can improve my luck with it. Maybe if I try it with a Voskhod...

I am enjoying this setup. Route 66 Rum Runner smells great and the big 400 whips up a mountain of rich slick lather. Two passes followed by minimal touch ups ended with my normal near BBS. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

I really like the ultra modern look of that razor. What is a OneBlade and who makes it?
    Aggressive?
    How do you load it?

Thanks guys. As you will see in my update, I did use the Voskhod blade for day for and it did produce a DFS+. I even did some ATG on the chin without any blood at all. I think the Alum is really irritating the face or, the face, as you say, of getting use to a real blade on my face has not settled in and the alum is just exciting what is the result of a blade. I agree, the Voskhod can go rather long. Even after day 4, I am reluctant to ditch the blade. With the TOBS, it glided less than with Stirling even though I felt the lather was perfect. It was a little louder but easily doing the job. Again, I made sure to hold the blade with a small grip and light pressure.

As for blade life and me, the only long term blade use I have had was with Senor, Mach3 and fusion blades and I rarely got more than 4-5 days with them. Not expecting miracles with DE but it is a different animal and will see what happens . So far, I like the Voskhods.
