My C3 does rank above almost every razor I know....I'd put it in my top 3 or 4 razors of all time!

    I don't have a C, but I swear the E2 has teeth.

Maybe your experience with the C2 will be like mine with the C3. I wasn't very fond of my C3 the first couple of times I shaved with it. Now I rank it in the top tier - above the E2. I used to think of the E2 as the ultimate gold standard for injectors. Now I think of it as the benchmark that separates great injectors from good or not so good. :happy088:

Tom, every now and then I search through some older threads and postings and I'll see some of your posts. Reading through those old posts and your responses got me started on SEs. In fact, reading some of your posts on another forum (sorry TSD) is what turned me on to Gem Damaskeene razors!

@Bird Lives is right about your knowledge. Actually, as far as I'm concerned, you and Bird are the gurus of the SE world!

    Post on!

I am pretty sure that I will end up agreeing with you there. Also think my Shaving technique has improved ,which is just as well as you cannot afford to be cavalier when using a C Type.

Wonderful 2 pass shave with touch ups this morning. I will finish off this week with the Mongoose before moving on to the AlumiGoose next week.

Nice shave with the Black Hawk today. Smooth and efficient. I have two other types of blades to try out with it. Those will be on the docket soon.

    Have a great day!

I'm running out of hacks. I verified that the trimmed DE blade won't work in the MMOC, the posts are just slightly too far apart to secure the blade. Back to my reference, superb as always. The Supply SE with the DE did cut very close but the turbo Shake Sharp is so much smoother.

I am truly happy, and humbled, to know that all of my rambling about SE's over the years have helped a few guys see how great they truly are! I still believe the GEM 1912, and especially the Damaskeene, was the pinnacle of safety razor design.

And I agree, a whole lot of wisdom was lost forever when TOST and the original site TOS folded, I really don't know what happened to it, but Bird is a walking dictionary!

This is such an important observation....So many cats try and dismiss the Schick Simplified Automatic Repeaters, or C types, my personal favorite repeaters, aswell as the other Schick repeaters...Because they require almost a 90% angle, and if you try to make them into "Hoes" they will rebel! They are true Ladies in every way, and can not be made to work as a "Hoe" "type razor". Even the directions that came with them says that! Most find, that once tried with the correct angle, that this is an incredible shaver capable of keeping up with any safety razor, and surpassing most...Besides being absolutely "Too Cool For School" This beauty holds 20 blades, it's a shave kit in a razor, whew! So far ahead of it's time, no one has caught up yet. This could have been Buck Rodger's razor...}8^))

Here are the directions that came with the New Schick/ B type (courtesy of @Billyfergie ), which also apply for the Schick Simplified Automatic/C type aswell

    image.jpg
I've read, Victor Octavius Rodrigues' (the gentleman who invented the C types aswell as the E types) written part of his patent application. He applied for a separate pat. for the safety bar on the C3. He considered it the finest shaving head ever! His E type was patented around the same time, not after. He wanted them available concurrantly. He didn't think of the E type or 'Injector' razor as an improvement over the repeater, just different, allowing shavers options for different tastes and lifestyles.

But the decision was corporate to release them one after the other. And the Depression, WWII, brass shortages, the economy, and rationing, all these factors came together to seal the repeaters death warrant...NOT it's ability to shave better that most anything it was competing with...

Hey Tom....I'm happy that the lasting affects of your mentor-age, experience, and influence has helped made you smile. But I think it's obvious that your "ramblings" about SE's are a delight to most, and needed more than ever. Especially since so much accumulated reference and research material has been lost, "Across the Street" with the dissapearance of TOST.

It's really GREAT seeing you around these hallowed halls again, and posting these last couple days...

While we have you here...do you have any pics you'd like to share...either razors or brushes...?
You did some of the most classic and beautiful brush refurbs evah!

I do agree, that the ASR 1912 line, especially the GEM Damaskeene; as being Perfection Personified...And as you know, I feel the same sentiment towards the ER 1924 line, especially the ER1909.

Tom.....there has been some controversy as to which Damaskeenes came in what order....care to throw a little light on this?

Finally got to use a Twin Blade in the Schick I 1 injector. From being a run of the mill shaver it is transformed into one that gives a comfortable ultra close close Shave.

You know we are REALLY spoiled with fantastic shavers when we call a Schick I type a "run of the mill razor" :happy102:
I know what you mean though....But I couldn't resist! :lam:

That I1 with the Twin is an extraordinary shaver....But my I2 is still my Highlander razor ( if there could be only ONE)...Having said that.....I just got back to back BBS's with my ER 1909 and 1 1/2 days later my OCMM...Squeaky Clean, MVP type BBS...The Nobel folks are considering todays shave for this years Peace "making a face safe from whiskers" prize...

My son, who is a relatively new wet shaver, absconded with my I when he was home for Christmas break. Last I heard, his DE is parked in a drawer.
