Glad you had a great shave with your Schick. I get 6 really nice shaves from those blades. My DE's 2 good shaves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Different colors - different texture? The handles looking great Jim! Glad you are back to your craft.
I got a couple soaps in yesterday. About 10 pounds of scents to sniff, and lathers to test. I do believe the Soap Pass-around Volume II - 2017 is still accepting more folks. Sign up soon!
Well, consider this.... I can get 8 comfortable shaves out of one of those Chick blades, but only 3 to 4 from a DE blade. So it's not that much more expensive.
The black one looks like a junior Game Changer. It is nice looking. It is good to be able to do something with my hands again. Thanks.
I really like to keep an eye on things on Ebay when the bidding ends in the early morning hours. You can usually tell if they can be had for a good deal or not, like this Schick Adjustable. Looks like it was hardly used and was only $17.50. Not bad for Ebay.
These brushes I picked up for $9.00, knowing they'd need some kind of work, even re-knotting. The first two, Erskine K-250 Badger and Made Rite 15 Boar had handles that had dark yellow patinas from age. I just gave them a quick "buffing" with a very fine sanding sponge and polished with Flitz to help bring back their original color. Not exactly as white as the picture shows, more of an off white. The knots seem OK, but they'll get a soaking in shampoo with conditioner, just to make sure. The third one I'm not sure the make, it says "M" inside a circle next to "U.S.A.", then underneath it says "Sterilized" and "7", it'll get worked on and re-knotted. The last one is wood and has the name "Pioneer" on it and the rest is hard to see. It'll either get a stained and clear coat finish, or a painted one, not sure yet and re-knotted. It has the smallest knot of the bunch. So, at least for a while, I've got a couple of things to keep from getting bored.
Thanks. I would have liked to first try it out with twin blades, but don't think I can wait that long and just go for one of my Personna's. But I was wondering, can I just use one of the blades that came with it. Looks like Schicks with the two small holes in them, instead of the oblong holes in modern blades.
From Charlie @wristwatchb , this nice Ever-Ready C40 and some nice blades. Thanks, Charlie. Restoration ho! From Col. Bacon (Kevin) @HolyRollah , my restored H. Boker 5/8 straight.
The Little Valley Geo Korn arrived today. I used some Simichrome on it for 15 minutes or so and the before and after pics are below. I can only imagine what it would look like if I had a dremel... @gssixgun will have a little extra metal to remove due to the small chip and some small "dents" along the edge. Before: After: Karl
