Yeah, I like it. Maybe I'll set up a badger tourney. or something. Put some low price underdogs up against some high end favorites or something. Two weeks for two bands, and two weeks for three.

Today's was an interesting shave. Curious about shavettes that use injector blades, I picked this one up. I had an excellent shave with it, and it was fun to use, but it isn't one I would want to use a lot. The reason is, notice in the picture, how the blade is sort of recessed? All other shavettes I have used have a blade which drops down below the holder. Well with this one being recessed, you sort of end up shaving away at your face with the blank part, and really only focusing on the end where the blade is. It worked fine, but I could see getting used to it, then picking up an AC style or actual straight, and flaying the side of your face off.

It seems well built, and weighs 53 gms, so the same as the Irving Barber or Kai. Jury is still out I guess, but so far it is a fun little toy to dink around with.

That is a really pretty town you live in/by Doug. It would be neat to see some of these exact photos in the summer when everything is greened up.

So busy... Will try catching up with goings-on tonight. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a great Friday night!

Today was one of my all-time favorite shave setups.

The Brush - Maggard Plissoft 24mm
    The Soap - La Toja
The Face Razor - Magic Shavette
The Face Razor Blade - Polsilver SI
The Head Razor - Gillette Slim (on 4)
The Head Razor Blade - Lord Super Chrome
Aftercare - Thayer's Witch Hazel, Osage Rub, Barbasol Brisk
Scent of the Day - Nautica Voyage

Everything about this shave was great. This could easily be a forever setup. That is all.

Colorado strikes me weather-wise as similar to Massachusetts="ya just never know what you get the next day". But I LOVE the 300+ days of sunshine that Colorado brings each year.

Seriously, tell people not to try Magic. It will mess up all their expensive razors.

That whole setup is just comforting to me. I don't really know why, but it is all simple, intuitive, inexpensive stuff. It's like dinner at Grandma's house versus a fancy meal out.

I have not chimed in for a while. Going on month 5 with straights. I am getting very consistent shaves. DFS range no BBS, but I am not chasing that. I know I can get a BBS with my injectors.

The straights for me are an incredibly challenging shave. Not difficult just the fact that there is infinite variation of blade angle. I am slowly learning what angles to use on each area of my face. What direction works best. I am also trying more difficult angles of attack. Baby steps for sure.

I am so happy I got the nerve to try them. If anybody is thinking of trying it. If you stick with it and go slow, you will wonder why you ever used anything else. I am looking forward to a few more years of learning before I consider myself an experienced straight user.

    Have a great weekend.
    Tom

Great post. You are so correct about the varying angles. Couple that with different angles of attack, and it is like an infinite number of ways to go about a shave. I wonder if that is why I am enjoying myself so much.
