Yes, you do. Hope you are having a good time. Enjoy it while you can. My little girl is gonna be a senior in high school next year, and that is really starting to hit home lately.

I'm on a non-repeating soap binge. Going to run through several to see if I swap out any while I have the Pass Around Box here. I started the session wanting to have my first MWF Friday. Warmed up the bowl, moistened the badger brush, dropped a small slice of soap in... nothing much happened. This soap is know for it's lather learning curve. I eventually worked up the sliver into a bit of foam. Upon application it promptly disappeared. Knowing I'd applied the soap I took my WTG pass on setting nine with the once used Wilkie. I got great reduction but saw little lather on the razor. The scent is acceptable but not fancy. Not feeling like I was able to waste anymore of the small sample I rinsed off. Soap Number Next was Chiseled Face Summer Storm. It's a tallow soap described on their website as; Moist earth, oak moss, cut grass, pine needles, orange, lemon, ozone, white jasmine, lily of the valley, geranium and musk. A small slice in the clean bowl yielded a great bit of decent lather with a good strong load of scent. Took my setting six ATG, XTG, & clean up passes. Between the two soaps I finished smooth and hydrated. Alum swiped quiet enough that I now know the Fattie and my face like these blades. They were my fathers favorite when he used his Krona years ago. Slapped on a double dose of Leather by Avon. I'm not BBS, but not far from it.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Been an insane few days. Last shave was on Wednesday at home. Used my French Nessel 56 razor, boar brush, and 2/3rd of a sample of Mama Bear Lilly of the Valley soap. Not enough people on this thread use Mama Bear. It's an amazing soap, lathers easy, and she has fantastic sents. This one is a great floral scent. Got a great two pass shave.

Things haven't been so great since then. Got a call I have been dreading, and hopped on a plane to Phoenix. Sitting with my mom in the hospice now. I would appreciate any prayers sent this way. I'm glad this group is here, and talks about fun stuff and shaving. Has been a valuable distraction for me today.

    Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Israeli Personna (3)
    B+B Omega Essential Boar
The Eternal Tub of TOBS Avocado Cream ( croap )
    Alum and cold water

Yesterday I returned to using my Fatboy for the rest of the month. Tonight I thought my Rockwell 6s was looking lonely and unloved so I grabbed it at the last moment instead. This is a nearly foolproof setup for me. The Omega brush easily and reliably whips up a great lather from the TOBS and the razor gives me a close, irritation-free shave. I don't think I could nick myself with this razor setting and blade combo if I tried. In fact, a drunken monkey could probably shave with it.

Mr. Alum was totally silent, even on the spots I scraped yesterday morning. I didn't bother with any post shave products.

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Three years ago today, I walked upstairs to see why my Dad hadn't come downstairs for his early morning coffee -- and found him dead in bed. My mother has senile dementia; I continue to act as her live-in caregiver -- and one of these days, I rather expect the same thing will happen again.

The death of a parent either suddenly or even when it's expected and anticipated after a long illness is a hard, hard blow no matter what your age.

You, your mother and the rest of your family have my deepest and most heartfelt prayers tonight. May the Lord bless and keep you all and hold you safely sheltered in His hands throughout this time of trial.

So sorry, Adam. If it is prayer you are asking for, you got it. If you need shenanigans, they'll come too.

    Soap Trial

    Razor - 1959 Gillette Fatboy (6)
    Blade - rapira-super-stainless.jpg (1)
    Soap - Soap Commander Courage
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum

Well, that mysterious message in an empty vodka bottle floating in @cmorris357 's bathtub was right. A package did indeed show up at Cartel HQ in the Lou today and it was from Ardmore, Alabama. Apparently Cartel intelligence (can you use those two words together) was on its toes. Inside the package was a tub of Soap Commander Courage along with a very nice thank you card and a sample of some aftershave balm. Mysteriously, the card was written to me, thanking me for my purchase. Apparently my name was attached for the purpose of subterfuge to get me to try said Soap Commander soap. The enabling plot continues, I fear, and I have the boys out scouring for evidence of all of the instigators and co-conspirators in this nefarious plot.

In the meantime, it's time to shave. And, since the soap is here who am I not to try it? I grabbed the Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip as I had planned and the Fatboy with a Rapira blade, also as planned, and got ready to give it a go.

The "Courage" scent is peppercorn, citrus and cedar. My first whiff of it brought out the peppercorn and cedar with a following scent of citrus. Interestingly, when I had my wife take a sniff, the citrus hit her first. She described the scent over all as "very masculine". I would agree and have to say it's unique and very pleasant. Nice mix of items to get that particular scent.

I had soaked the Silvertip and shook it lightly a couple of times. A short 20 second or so load seemed to have it ready to lather, so I gave it a go. Very easy and nice lather with no difficulty at all. And, it seemed very slick and protective. Very nice feel to it. The first pass with the Rapira and Fattie on 6 was very nice, smooth, and effective. The second lather was as easy and plentiful as the first and after the second pass and some touchup I was at near-BBS. Very nice result.

I squeezed the brush and had two handfuls of lather. Wow! That's a lot for no more than I loaded the brush. As I worked the lather with my hands it was thick, peaky, very slick and I have to say I am impressed.

Finished with alum which was quiet as expected and I skipped the aftershave balm trial. I may use it in the morning before heading to the sales floor.

Thanks "mysterious friend" for this tub of soap. I like it. And I would recommend it after one shave. I of course reserve the right to rescind that recommendation if something changes in future uses, but I doubt it will. This is the third Artisan soap I've tried this month, all with success. Well, second this month, third since the beginning of the year. You know what I mean.

Headed into the weekend and hope you have a good one! Four more days until March!
