Minty/Menthol is okay, but I LOVE the citrus... Lime - uummmmm Bergamot - uummmmmmm orange - uummmmmm
The only one I have ever tried so far is the Art of Shaving Sandalwood aftershave, and I guess it does the job..
Splash: SCS med citrus, Osage Rub, Pinaud Clubman Balm: TGR signature- hands down Witch hazel: Thayers lemon w/ alcohol
I really like Bert's Bees balm. After reading this, I'm looking forward to picking up some Thayer's. Does anyone else reach for Aqua Velva and then pull back, since that's what dad used? Something I have to get over, I guess.
I don't keep Brut after shave around for that very same reason. On the other hand, I started shaving with a brush and soap because that's the way my late Grandfather lathered up, and at the time it was a neat way to remember him. Heh, funny how we sometimes hate to be like Dad, yet love to emulate Grandpa.
+1 So I use AOS After Shave Gel (not Balm) ... and, as I vaguely recall, there wasn't anything too bad about "feel(ing) 50 years old" !!!!!!
Alcohol-based witch-hazel fluidextract (store-brand, not Thayer's) AV Ice Blue AV Musk Adidas Dynamic Pulse Balm Nivea Replenishing Alcohol-free HERESY!!!!
Meh . . . my dad always wore a full beard and shaved his neck sans cream in the shower with a disposable Bic . . . no after shave. *grin*
I've realized recently that alcohol splashes seem to dry my face and leave me more prone to ingrown hairs. Gotta go with balms. C&E Nomad , can't place the smell but it grew on me AV Ice Balm. Not as strong scented as AV splash. a fresher scent I think
I think Alt Innsbruck love029 is my favorite lately.......such a great scent and the menthol blast is really nice
Splash Alt Innsbruck Speick AV Balm Homemade brew of Witch Hazel (Inexpensive stuff) and Aloe Gel. Now... I can not wait to try Proraso splash. I have too much aftershave right now and I need to get through some of my current supply.
Non-Alcohol: N/A Alcohol: Proraso AS Splash, Taylor's No. 74, AV Lime Sport, AV Ice Blue Balm: Mama Bear's Lime Ice AS milk
Nothing too scientific. About 55% Witch Hazel, 30% Pure Aloe Gel and 5% Calendula. For me, this provides a very healing, soothing balm that leaves my skin feeling nice. It never dries sticky. Afterwards, I splash on my favorite aftershave.
