Considering some of the equipment you choose, Courage would seem an appropriate choice. I'm glad you got the chance to try it out. I think it's wonderful stuff, considering it's vegan.

A "drunken monkey could probably shave with it". That's giving me ideas. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Wilkinson in a Krona. I just put that on my list of shaves to try. Something tells me that's a great combination.

Yeah, that is probably the most appropriate choice. I'll remember that when some of that "equipment" comes out now and then. The thought did cross my mind when I was shaving that the performance certainly seemed more in line with a tallow soap, which is my preference. I do have to hand it to them to produce that kind of lather off of a vegan product.

You, sir, are being humble! I knew you were going to go full blast on straights in your first week. Nice to see you over here!

@Drygulch - if you get bored and have a bottle of Osage...you know the drill.

Thinking about you and your family tonight.

Well said Tom, I am having similar experiences in my few months of straight shaving. I'm always learning something new. Safety razors were a quick and easy learn compared to the straight, but not nearly as much fun. I'm enjoying this a lot and looking forward to each shave.

Have fun! My daughter and I did something similar from 7 to 17 years old. We have wonderful memories.

Soap is soap. I try to avoid worrying about if it has tallow, and focusing on how it performs. At some point I will check out Soap Commander. The performance of the sample I used was great.

There is a drugstore down the street. I will consider that if I am tired and want to stay up.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Had a break tonight before going to the airport and got a shave in. Have had six hours sleep in the last two days, so went with a DE instead of a straight. My Staley head with the new Windrose handle I got for it. Do t remember what blade is in it, but I have shaved three times now. Soap is a sample of Wheat State Sweet Tobaco Leaf that the owner sent to replace the sample he had given me of Vanilla Sandalwood after he heard I was allergic to samdalwood. First use of a tabaco scented soap, but this smells floral, not smoke. Lather was abundant, thick and slick. This is another artisan soap I think everyone should try. Travel Omega boar brush, and a soup bowl from Grandma's cabinet rounded out the gear.

Three passes and some buffing, and I am BBS. The weight of the new handle is awesome. A little burn on the alum, but the Thayer's calmed it down, and a splash of mentholated Clubman to wake me up a bit.

Thanks very much. His hair is to long for my liking, but that's just me. :) Eyes are about right though. When the switch is on! :happy096:
