I have to say that this has really piqued my curiosity. I would NEVER have thought to use Listerine as an aftershave. Since I was intrigued, I picked up a bottle of cool mint Listerine, today, and will give it a shot on my next shave. As an aside, I must say that I get a real kick out of these old ads. It seems laughable to us, now, that an ad would say to use Listerine as an aftershave for its disinfectant properties and that, if you didn't, you might actually DIE from a nick that got infected. I just find it hard to believe that people were actually that gullible back then.
the gold is what is used take back what you bought and pick up a bottle of that. and back then, while a slim chance, you could die from an infected razor cut. these were the days before penecilin remember.
That next to last sentance sounds pretty funny: "While you're making your toilette don't forget to gargle a little Listerine" Making your toilette? What the hell are they talking about? :rofl
Ah! I often start with Thayers Lavender WH followed by the Aloe Gel. The difference may very well be that secret 10% ingredient!

My skin is too oily for ASB except a few really dry days in the middle of winter, so I'm alcohol and alum all the way. I use to use Stetson Sierra before I started caring how I smell. My daily is now CK Eternity, but I'm looking to branch out. The Eternity is good for daily wear as it's a good, mild, clean scent. I'd like something a little stronger for weekends and special occasions. Using the alum block, I could go to a cologne for this and really like the scent of T&H 1805, but it still might be a touch on the mild side for weekends/evening.
Caldey Island is my favourite scent-wise, I don't think it's something that would get the serious menthol-heads drooling, but it has a curious cooling and refreshing feeling to it as well. For overall skincare benefits Rivvivage A/S can't be beaten Honourable mentions to: Alt-Innsbruck, DRH Sandalwood and L'Occitane CADE. I don't use branded balms anymore, just Nilotica Shea Butter which is very nice. Kind regards, Alex
Nope, I was just a stinky man until recently :ashamed001 Tell your daughters it's true that boys stink :signs113
I only use balms. Favourites are: Jean Paul Gaultier's "Le Male" and "Gaultier2". Davidoff's "Silver Shadow" Alcohol is for internal use ::
I just ordered samplers from Trumpers and T&H, so hopefully I'll find a new favorite I'll also be make an order from TSD store this weekend, so I'll have a great sample array. I'll get TWGW to help select scents for TSD samples (soap, cream, and A/S splash), and have her pick which Taylor's cream sample to get (I have to try one). I'm thinking I'll sample MWF and/or P160 also.

I like nivea shave balm have forever and actually opened my eyes to other shaving products and if there was a way to shave then what I was doing. Alcohol based all I have tried is a polo sample that was given to me but it wasn't great but it did smell good.
Favorite A/S is Speick with Osage Rub and A/V Ice Blue a tie for 2nd. Favorite balm is Wesley & Scott Lime A/S Balm. I think I am going to have to try some TSD A/S milk to see if it overtakes my WS
To follow up my earlier post, TSD is the best performing A/S I've used, though I wish I'd ordered the TSD signature scent instead of Spring Equinox. I have a TSD Signature SC and I'm sad I will only get to enjoy it for a few shaves.:sad023
