That's why I took it out when I finished. Hurt it not at all. I removed the blades after the shave, cleaned & dried my razor, and replaced the blade but didn't lock down the spring (just to have someplace to store the blades). I injected a single in it just now, and the head's still tight.
Shave one with the Schick Adjustable. I set it on 5 and it was a pleasant shave. Not super close, but decent. Tomorrow I try 6. HERM
I certainly will. I haven't had much luck with OC razors in the past so dont expect it to be better than the CP
Yo @HoosierTrooper Hey Tom, I remember you saying, that you thought the GEM Feather Weight might be the closest to a birth year SE, because of the 1953 possible date... Well I've uncovered a couple things relating to that date... 1. There is an e-bay ad This claims that this GEM Feather Weight is packaged as a "50th Anniversary Special" and GEM was started 1898 therefore this special was released in 1948.... 2. The second artifact I bring before your Gemness... An advertisement: It comes from this magazine: NOTICE THAT DATE: October 16 1950 This is the earliest conclusive proof I can come up with so far...The GEM Feather Weight was in this ad from 1950... 3. Next, here is an article Blown up......note Feather Weight From this magazine: Notice a Life Magazine November 3 1952 So until I hear a better argument...The Feather Weight isn't only close to your birth year SE razor...it IS your birth year razor! Mine too aswell as the razor that not only got Mickey Mantle to first base with his chick...but got him a Home Run!!!
Sun 26th Feb Supply SE & Chick [ 3 ]. Getting the hang of this one now. On a 3 dot plate still mild but with a Chick there is enough blade feel, to get a smooth and comfortable and close all round shave, not ultra close but pretty good for someone with a tough beard.
Good Morning all! It's been awhile since I posted in this thread, so I thought I would share my OC SOTD here. Yesterday I scored a great little Gem MMOC in a Bakelite case for $10. So I cleaned it up, and had a good shave with it. I used a vintage Gem Reversible blade. I rate this shave as a DFS in two passes. I really enjoyed it. Have a great day everyone! Damaskeene with a vintage Blue Star did commendably well but needed help from the Shake Sharp. While they are excellent beard slayers I don't find any of the GEM blade razors can go ATG on my crown stubble nearly as well as injector or DE bladed units much as I love the Damaskeene and its extended family. And I can't get Mr Cueball without that ATG action. SAD. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Shave 2 with the Schick Adjustable was sweet. Set on 6, the shave was a two pass DFS, at the very least. A really light touch yielded better results. Tomorrow I'll pull out some menthol with the Proraso Green. Unfortunately, my favorite Captain's Choice bowl is in shards after I dropped out on the sink... HERM
-Supply SE -Omega 49 -Stirling Black Ice Soap and Splash As my good friend Roby would say, I am dolphin smooth and refreshed.
Yep, the brownish-red one (you probably heard the "SON OF A...!" where you live. LOL Gotta pick up a metal bowl. HERM
The pleasure is mine, my friend....I believe along with many others, that GEM got everything right on this one...while beating Gillette to the TTO draw with the Micromatic by a few years....GEM
