March 2, 2017AlumiGoose V1 with Triad SSFeather Pro (5)Rudy Vey Rover with TGN FinestReef Point Dragon’s Blood This week has been a real joy thus far. The hardware and software combo are consistently delivering smooth drama free shaves and this morning was one more in the string. I finished off the shave with a splash of Floid Blue and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday.
Are you stretching your skin? I don't have too jowly of a face, and I can pretty much pull that part of my face up a bit where I can get it on the flat of my jaw. That ended my jaw being a trouble spot.
I really like that brush, Clint. Rudy Vey does such nice work. He is definitely the next custom I want.
March 2 SOTD: Omega Boar Brush Cella Ever-Ready 1914 Stirling Unscented PSB Aqua Velva Musk AS Day two of my No Focus Focus, and I pulled out another soap that just doesn't get much use. Cella isn't a bad soap, I just don't use it to often. It set the stage for a very nice Thursday morning shave with the 1914. I hope everyone has a great day!
Thank you Jared. Rudy does do some really nice work and he is a true pleasure to work with in getting just the brush you want. Thank you, Jim.
Second day of using the Avon 4 Men Maxwell 23 "Tribute" aftershave....(Raffle prize). It's nice indeed. There'll be plenty of it around to try in the summer-I'd love for it to be an all-year fragrance.
Jared, Could we ask for a photo of the brushes? I am not familiar with most of them. Group shots, in order, would be fine.
Yep, I am working on it now. I had to finish my little playing cards and put the, into collages. Otherwise it would be a mile long post. They wont be in order, and not all of the names fit into the pics when they are grouped together, but I think you can figure them out by process of elimination. I'll have them up in a few minutes.
Day 8 of 30 days of straights I got a DFS today, along with 3 small nicks on my neck obtained when I was doing my ATG. I realized this morning that I no longer have any fear as the blade approaches my neck. March 2nd - Return of the Voskhod Jedi - My Father's Light Saber Gillette G3 Fatboy on 4 Voskhod Teflon The Phoenix Brush (JosephsLathe) Homemade PSO Stirling Dunshire Alum/ Thayer's WH Nivea PSB Today was 2 firsts: My dad's Gillette G3 Fatboy and Stirling Dunshire. Stirling Dunshire smells great! Awesome scent. A definite must buy again. I will be waiting, impatiently, for when the summer scents come out to put in my order. Lather was great and the brush was luxuriously smooth. Today I was spoiled with these two. Fatboy was an interesting shave. I have only shaved with the Merkur 34C HD up to this point. The Fatboy, on the first shave, felt like it broadcasted more information about the shave than the 34C. I will not say it is loud but the sound was more audible with the Voskhod blade in the Fatboy than the 34C. It helped greatly in finding the right angle. I was not perfect at maintaining it but I did get a DFS shave. The neck did not come out as good as the rest of the face but I think that is more due to learning the right angle than tool ability or talent. I did rinse the razor more often because the gap just looked narrow and I did not want it getting plugged up. Initially, I felt the shave was smoother but on the second and third, it seemed not as smooth as when done with the 34C. Also, I did not find the Voskhod as smooth as when it was in the 34C. Might just be this blade, not sure. On the plus side, no weepers or nicks. Fatboy dun well!! Alum was quieter after a Fatboy shave than I had with the Merkur with the Voskhod or Astra SP blades. The Fatboy is a nice razor on 4 and I can see why it would be good for beginner's. The only bad thing I find about it is the need for the handle to be at a steeper angle in compared to the 34C. Should someone want to transition, like I just did, it will present a bit of a learning curve to get the angle right since they differ a bit.
