If you splash enough do you actually start moving backward in time? That would be cool!

We are starting to fill up a board now.

If you aren't in this, it ends tomorrow night, midnight. I even went out and bought stuff to add to this, so it isn't just crappy old den hand me downs. Another option I will put out to the winner if they have big dens, or just aren't PIFfy types, is to pick a prize and have it donated in your name to the next newbie giveaway.

Also, I am going to up it to three winners, and do the choosing like our raffles.

Tomorrow, I expect scores to start picking up a bit as the lineup jumps into a run of three top artisan brushes, followed by Simpson Manchurian.

Teflon coated blades can beat a platinum anytime for me. I've always been partial to them.

I'm beginning to develop a favorite between those two. No, not saying yet. But I'm leaning.

Great writeup. I never would have expected the Rapira to have gotten trounced like that.

You and Brian. It's a good bet. The handle Jayaruh made for me is going to give this one a pop. I love it, and it has special meaning because it came from Jim.

I haven't used Route 66 nearly as much as some of the other guys here, but I haven't found it to need, or be able to handle the water that a Stirling or a Barrister and Mann takes. It seems to me to explode early, need a little bit more, and then it is in its wheelhouse, but will break if it gets pushed too far past that optimal point.

Some of you other guys have it way more dialed in than me, I am sure. I used up four or five samples last year, and am only on my first full tub this year.

I load R66 hard (@Keithmax style)with a slightly damp brush, like 20-25 sec, then drip water on the knot and let it run down into the soapy bristles. It only takes like a tablespoon of water.

You have a rabbit hole there that could make shaving look like a gopher hill.

More like a vortex. NB16 has given way to "let's accidentally build a guitar and bass recording station in my office for fun."

Well as long as it was accidental then no harm/no foul when it concerns the Mrs. either! "But Honey, I don't know what happened....it just suddenly fell into place!"

I had the damp brush, hard load but didn't add water after. I'm guessing that was the step I missed.

Thanks. I didn't read it well enough the first time! Change my vote to 82 please.

I will send you advance copies of anything that's worth a listen. Honestly not trying to be a rock star, just playing with sound, trying to keep my education going, stimulate my mind, and have a fun creative outlet. What I was doing tonight was literally moving the dials in relation to one another. While doing that I was simply strumming over the three low strings, hitting power chord with a bounce the octave above and back, then running a lick on the pentatonic scale in that same position and some whammy mixed in, and zoning out on how it changed the sound of the notes. The other thing I was doing was trying different distortion combos by switching the path. There's a huge difference between delayed distortion and distorted delay. Honestly, I am not good enough nor ready to record anything for public display, I am just super fired up and making progress as a player, though I am only playing guitar two days per week, bass is an hour daily right now,

My bass teacher has encouraged me to pick up these pieces, they are used for both bass and guitar. He thinks some stupid electronic fun keeps people interested. This on going to be it for awhile though, as I also have started to learn a multi effect processor that is bass specific. Puts the chunk in your funk, and pizazz in your Jazz. Tuesday, I managed to play 12-bar blues with my teacher on guitar for eight minutes before I got lost and crapped out. That was my best day yet on bass. He said I "grooved" for the first time. It felt really good, he'd never really said anything like that before.

A real assessment of Bama Samurai as a musician:

    Good rhythm
    Decent ear
    Mathematical mind
    Knows some chords and scales
Can't read sheet music very well
    Likes the low end
Low fingerstyle skill, but practicing daily!
