Today was my second shave with the Crown King Shavette and it went much smoother then the first last Friday. My skin was a bit more irritated then usual with DE shaves, but this time my face was not covered with nicks, cuts, weepers, and blood! Definite progress. Really I just had 2 nicks under my nose. My shave was not as close as my typical DE shaves, but still very good. I just did not want to push it. I still find two areas to be very difficult. The first is the tops of my side burn areas because it is very hard to position the razor without blocking visibility. Until I get to an inch or less below the top of my ear, I can’t see well what I am doing. The second area of difficultly is shaving from the corners of my chin to the center. The curves of my face are tricky in this area because of the dimple like recessions. Nevertheless, I am happy with today’s effort and will continue my journey, even though my wife thinks I’m crazy – especially after just receiving my new Blackbird. She tells me why would I want to have some discomfort when I have a perfectly good premium DE! One thing that really helped was a recommendation I received from some of the gents here – dull the corners of the blade. I took the blade out and rubbed the corners on a sharpening stone to take off the pointy ends. I think this was beneficial. Also I have been practicing holding the blade throughout the week and cutting just small areas on my cheek, trying to get the angle and the stroke motion down. Thank you for all the tips and I will continue to try to improve my technique.

I love the R41 - one of my favorites. Many people are intimidated with it because of all the aggressive comments, but I never have an issue with it - just smooth efficient shaves. It's funny, because even though the DOC & R41 are opposites in the spectrum of aggressiveness, I find I like both a lot.

Nice. I'm also going through the learning process of using a shavette coming from DE's. I had my second attempt today and it went many times better then the first last Friday. Today I just stuck with my right hand for both sides of my face. I honestly did not feel the need to use my left, which is definitely not as easy. Maybe not the best or typical form, but it worked better for me today. I don't think I will switch to shavettes long term, but I am trying to get proficient. It is tricky. Thank goodness there are no such things as vampires, otherwise I may be baiting them! Good luck with your shavette journey.

I've had two great shaves with the Fatboy, the reason why is because I've come to realize that I don't need a razor cranked up all the way.

Thank you. I figure since I have a few decanters, might as well use the after shaves and colognes.
