Thanks. I felt really lucky that I found all three from the same manufacturer. Additionally, this manufacturer changes the color and style of the imprint on the scales like most people change their clothes. I took all three immediately once I saw that all of the imprints on the scales were identical. Unfortunately, they were not cheap.
This is the second of two Doug Korn custom brushes that I have on the way. Handle: 49mm tall TGN 28mm 2-band Finest set to 50mm loft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah, but matching NOS Henckels ... they'll provide great shaves for your lifetime and then a couple more beyond that.
I uhmm "withdrew" from NB'17 on Friday and am now waiting for the results to hit my mailbox: 1. Nathan Clark red aluminum Alluminati shaving brush with Envy White badger knot. 2. 14 soaps from 9 different makers: TSD (4 - Bay Rum, Lavender, Sandalwood and Sensitive unscented), Gold Dachs (2 - Classic and Sandalwood), Klar's, Pre de Provence, Jeeves of Hudson Street (2- Private Study and Turkish Bath), Route 66 (Lavender Woods), Reef Point (Espresso), Stirling (Naked + Smooth) and Soap Commander (Integrity). That will be my first truly good badger brush. I had three others that I ended up disposing of one way or another because they simply didn't seem all that good; I have had much better luck with boar or synthetics. I am hoping the Envy White will be the lucky badger charm for me. The soaps empty off my maker's wishlist (except for Castle Forbes and Martin de Candre which are both simply too rich for my blood). This lot should keep me shaving for 4 or 5 years beyond what my original stash covered. All in all, I am now in good shape to join NB'18...
I know. As I said, they were pricey, but I felt really lucky to get them. I chose what I thought would be a good combo - small, big, and bigger. There are many more left. PM me if you want to know details.
Thanks but I am carefully trying to avoid going near the edges of the Straight Razor Rabbithole. The new and vintage DE, SE and injector razors, the brushes and the soaps are giving my wallet enough fits without risking falling prey to the straight razors, hones and strops. (Just the mere whisper of a mention of Japanese natural stones has my wallet almost falling into an irreversible coma...)
I caught a whisper of the Siren Call of The Hones. Turned my ship right around and sailed back into the shallow depth of DE, SE, and Shavettes. Fingers in my ears. I can't hear them. La la la laa...
A couple of knots from Mac Metalworks, thanks for the Tip Jorge @Jorvaljr ! One each 24mm Tuxedo and 24mm Game Changer:
