In a recent thread concerning our brush stash I mentioned I was down to Feather and Astra Super Platinum blades. However, as I recall, someone mentioned the Gillette Yellows. I had this blade a number of years ago and remembered it was a fine blade. So, I ordered a few. My memory is correct. The Yellow is as good as any blade I have used. Equal to the Astra SP. I have been using this blade in a Gillette Slim Adjustable/Setting 3 and am getting close, comfortable shaves. Glad I saw the reference to this blade.
Nice. Even if you remembered that you didn't like it, it would still be worth a try. It is amazing how time and experience help change ones preferences. I have a pack of these around. I was not a huge fan in the past, but should try them again. I like the black, blue, and Russian green iterations.
I've used that blade in the past and found it it be outstanding. I'll need to pick up some more on my next trip to Pasteur's pharmacy.
One of my favorite blades and the cream of the crop of my large sample pack. I rank it up there with Feather, Kai, and Polsilver. It feels almost as sharp as a Feather, yet it remains smooth like a Voskhod.
I have a pack of these... At first I was like so so but I like them and they cut well once I shave with proper technique. I am contemplating whether or not I should try to use another blade when my current one is replaced.
I almost forgot that I have one from a sampler I never finished. Looks like I need to try them the next time I change blades.
Only have experience with the Green. However @Sparrow sent along a few tucks of Blacks with the Travel Razor that I won in the raffle. Interested to see how they stack up against the Russians.
FYI Stirling (now) sells these blades for .25 each. Not a bad price for small amount orders of this excellent blade.
are these a more modern version of the gillette blades produced in north america before production stopped? like a continuation type blade?
I remember getting Blacks and Greens in a sample pack. As I remember, the Blacks were good. I did not care for the Greens.
This is my favorite DE blade. I've always thought they had the perfect combination ion of sharp and smooth. They are also long lasting.
just ordered 200 .i like my gillette silver blues and platinums. if they don t work for me my buddies will buy them.
I love this blade as well. I rarely buy anything other then blades I can get local but this is a blade I will buy at times.
