I do pretty much the same way. I don't count swirls or time but I look at the knot. I am looking at the soap working up into the knot towards the handle . I make a mental note and look for a similar load the next time if the lather was good. I bet from your first photo you could see the same thing. Like you said the worst that happens is too much lather. I still have a good shave and am on my way.

If it works half as good as it looks you have a winner Amigo. I am a sucker for brushes with yellow/butterscotch handles

I think you are right. The brush doesn't load as quickly as a pure badger brush. Plus, I am stingy. Don't want to waste it!!!

I understand but get stingy after you figure it all out. Or you could end up with a lifetime supply of soap like many of us. Then a little waste doesn't matter as much. :D

Barbasol Red tonight, after a pretty easy day! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a superb evening!

That'd be an interesting prize from Montgomery Hall on Let's Make a Deal.....a lifetime supply of shave soap of the contestant's choice. I might take that over the NEEW CAR!!!!!

I just saw it on line one time and remembered it. Mostly because of the rats nest he has tied into that brush knot. Then I watched him lather and figured out why.

:happy088: I load soap like it is my last shave on earth and I don't want any left. But I still have a cabinet full of the stuff. ;)

Just don't buy a lightly used brush from him. :happy102:

Just a ballpark, but there is about 13 cents worth of soap in that picture I put up earlier. I don't think too much about it.

I have never thought much at all about it. My best friend Wade shaves about 8 times a month. Since October 2014, so about 30 months he has emptied at least 5 tubs of soap. I know he must be loading very heavy.

I felt like a cat spitting feathers after swallowing the canary, thinking I had nailed a BBS today. Then a few minutes later, I felt a little spot right on my left cheek. Just missed the damn thing cleaning up. That is also a problem with these awesome soaps we get to use: they are so slick that a spot can feel smooth until you rinse it off cleanly, and THEN you notice a miss.

Talk about first world problems, huh?

Well, I had my second shave yesterday with the FB loaded with the Voskhod. I bumped up the Kung Fu from 5 to 6. I also made sure that my Chubby 2 was wrung out before I began to load the Soap Commander. Best I can tell, I live somewhere between "stingy" Frank and "Diamond Jim" Jared on a brush load. :)

Verdict - shave and lather were fantastic. I love the smoothness of the Voskhods, and I can adjust for their sharpness by shaving at a more aggressive razor setting. I'm dialing in my technique with the Chubby 2. Ole' Jethro is a big time soap eater and lather maker!

Today's shave was altogether different. Just to see what would happen, I worked some KMF onto my face with my fingers and did a super quick WTG pass. I figured the Voskie would be the perfect blade for a speed shave, and it was. Three minutes for an SAS shave. Not ideal, but now I have a backup plan for travel, mornings when time is short, or when I find myself unjustly accused and on the run.

I hope you all had a fantastic day!

A new set with a new razor that I send to Glen for honing and new scales.

J West, Castle Forbes and an elk antler brush from Glen too.

I a scoop of CF that was a little to large so it took me a while to get the lather wet enough, a little CF goes a long way. As expected the razor has a smooth and sharp edge, it is shorter than my other razors but it has a 1/2 to 1/4 grind so it heavy. One tiny nick kept this from being an epic shave, still and awesome shave for the first time using this razor.
