Barbasol Red tonight, after a pretty easy day! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a superb evening!

That'd be an interesting prize from Montgomery Hall on Let's Make a Deal.....a lifetime supply of shave soap of the contestant's choice. I might take that over the NEEW CAR!!!!!

I just saw it on line one time and remembered it. Mostly because of the rats nest he has tied into that brush knot. Then I watched him lather and figured out why.

:happy088: I load soap like it is my last shave on earth and I don't want any left. But I still have a cabinet full of the stuff. ;)

Just a ballpark, but there is about 13 cents worth of soap in that picture I put up earlier. I don't think too much about it.

I have never thought much at all about it. My best friend Wade shaves about 8 times a month. Since October 2014, so about 30 months he has emptied at least 5 tubs of soap. I know he must be loading very heavy.

I felt like a cat spitting feathers after swallowing the canary, thinking I had nailed a BBS today. Then a few minutes later, I felt a little spot right on my left cheek. Just missed the damn thing cleaning up. That is also a problem with these awesome soaps we get to use: they are so slick that a spot can feel smooth until you rinse it off cleanly, and THEN you notice a miss.

Talk about first world problems, huh?

A new set with a new razor that I send to Glen for honing and new scales.

J West, Castle Forbes and an elk antler brush from Glen too.

I a scoop of CF that was a little to large so it took me a while to get the lather wet enough, a little CF goes a long way. As expected the razor has a smooth and sharp edge, it is shorter than my other razors but it has a 1/2 to 1/4 grind so it heavy. One tiny nick kept this from being an epic shave, still and awesome shave for the first time using this razor.

Thank you Clint, there is some patina on the razor but I am pleased how the razor turned out. Amazing what a difference changing the scales made. Unfortunately I did not take any before pics.

    Synthetics, Day 1:

A while back, I saw the 400 that @RyX put a Tuxedo knot into, and just loved it. I had seen a couple of the 400 style brushes that @Jayaruh had carved, and asked him if he would make me one in a very light colored wood. He agreed, and went about making me this brush.

The 400 is such a great design for a handle. It is just the right length to palm, and it seems that wherever a finger lands on it, it is wrapped comfortably around it. It is fantastic in the bowl, but still comfortable when face lathering. Jim did such a nice job with this. Considering how much work went into it with hand tools, as opposed to being all lathe turned, it is that much more impressive. Its lines are perfectly uniform, perfectly sanded smooth, and the piece of oak it is made from is beautiful. With the Tuxedo sitting atop of it, it is both great looking and unique.

Somewhat new on the scene, the Tuxedo is a great knot. I could not comprehend tips being any softer, and while it doesn't have much backbone in the traditional sense of the word, it still has a presence on the face when it is splayed. It also doesn't have any of that annoying springiness that leaves flecks of soap all over your mirror. I have heard it said about it that you can't feel the brush, only the lather, and this is a somewhat accurate description. For someone who places softness on the top of their list of importance, this is your brush. My only complaint, if complaint is the right word, is there really isn't any scrub to it at all. I mean, you can feel that it is there, and it isn't floppy, but it just doesn't have any oomph behind it. This is really the only score that it didn't get high marks. Like most synthetics, it loads the soap quickly, works up a great lather, and gives it all back when you ask for it. This is just an awesome brush. It comes in tonight with a score of:
