My first shave with the Geo. W. Korn. I just got it back from Glen and it was a sweet shave. Even though it's in the picture I forgot to use the PSO. Normally this would result in a few nicks and weepers and some additional burn from the Alum. Not today. This one is an "instant keeper." Hats off to @gssixgun as the edge on this one was dinged up a good bit and had a possible crack. Amazing that you can hardly tell the loss of steel from getting a new edge put on it. :happy036:

    Hot water preparation
    Haslinger Schafmilch Shave Soap
    T&H Wellington Super Badger
    Geo. W. Korn 7004 5/8
    Osma Bloc d'Alun
    AOS Lavender After Shave Balm

    Happy shaving - Karl

Tonight's shave was with a newly acquired, and freshly honed razor, from Germany. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave with this blade. It took a very Keen edge, and left me with Dolphin smooth skin. Very nice shaving razor.

    Razor- Der Original Shultz
    Brush- B400 By Tom
    Soap- ARKO/Avon Spicy
    Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy

    Dove Men Face Wash
    Tabac Shave Soap
    Jayaruh #144
    H. Böker 5/8
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    T.N. Dickinson's WH
    Pinaud Clubman AS

The Tabac Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #144 finest badger brush. I did two passes the H. Böker 5/8, I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with T.N. Dickinson's WH and then Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Baby steps are good. Saturday's are the gateway to weekends. Look out, the slide to the Dark Side takes hold there

I took this to the hones before today's shave. It just wasn't quite there. My benchmark for sharpness is to see how easy it performs the fools pass. Today's shave was absolutely perfect. BBS and super comfortable. Glad I finally got this one dialed in.

Sheffield Steel SRs are the Dogs Danglies...But..I have Found as Many Others..Most Sheffield Hollow Grinds Don't Like Modern Very High Grit Edges..They Shave Particularly Well from a 12 K/16K Finisher Hone..I Kinda Find the Optimal for Me is Around the 15 K Mark..They Can Get as Sharp as a Shavette Just About & Lethal to Use..:D

Paradoxically I Find that Most Sheffiled Wedges or Near Wedges can Take a Very High Grit Edge No Problem...Although the Tempering of Old Wedge Type Sheffileds Can Vary a Lot from Soft to Hard..:)

Fools pass: against the grain on the upper lip. My hair is extremely thick and my skin is sensitive in that area. I find only the smoothest, sharpest blades can comfortably shave that area.
