Straight bar and open comb don't determine aggressiveness. Open Comb simply helps prevent clogging with long stubble and leaves more lather against the blade. A slant is simply a gimmick that forces a cutting technique called the slide or the J hook.

If you seek aggressiveness, try a razor head made by Fatip. The Gillette adjustables are pointless for you below setting six , based upon what you've written.

And FWIW, injectors are better than all the above. Try a G or an E as Uncle @Screwtape suggests. These Schicks are the gateway drug to straight razors. You've been warned.

I would see it, and the vision of it would be imprinted in my brain while I tried to sleep.

I am so OCD about my den stuff that even if I used a brush that way, I would have to take the rubber band off of it before I put it back on the shelf.

You have inoculated me to a growing case of RAD. I have two Schick Gs, but have been looking for a type E. If it's that close in aggressiveness, I can live without the flip spring feature.
    Thanks Uncle @Screwtape!

I would have to respectfully disagree on the E vs. G aggressiveness. I find a noticeable difference between the two. I cannot get a BBS shave from a G without considerable stretching and buffing, but can accomplish it quite easily with an E. It may just be a beard type thing. I have pretty coarse flat hair, and prefer aggressive razors.

I don't think all of the E's have the flip spring either, Only the E1 and early E2.

...and just that quick, I'm going to keep my eyes open for an E type. I really won't know until I compare for myself.
    Thanks Uncle @PickledNorthern!

Be careful, E types come in many flavors and vary in their aggressiveness and efficiency. Score an E2 with an openable spring if you can.

I would add while we are talking about injectors that from one silverbacked gorilla Italian to another, I would not recommend any Schick injector other than an E or a G to start. Either PAL model would be fine also. The others are fine shavers, but mild, and almost (for me anyway) require an entirely different approach to shaving. A G or E will get you where you want to go.

If you get to looking at modern AC bladed razors, I can get a great shave from any of them except the Hawk and the Alumigoose V2 are too light for my tastes. I would not recommend either of them to you for now.

I like it. It's a nice scent. The soap is a good performer, it lathers nicely and is slick. The AS has no burn at all and leaves my face feeling good.

Jeff has way more experience with varying models of these than I do. The only one I have used is an E2, so that may also have something to do with the differing opinions on their effectiveness.

I only have had three , two E2s and an E3, I'm relying much on Billiyfergies observations on a lot more of the variants I haven't come across.

    Frank-

My mentor put this together. You may enjoy reading it. He was one of the greatest writers ever to take on safety razors. He dealt in science and physics and not notions. It's where most of my fundamental ideas about shaving originate. He has retired from forum participation, but every once in a while, it's appropriate to post his link to the

Skipped a shave yesterday leaving plenty of stubble for Menthol Monday. Stirling Glacial definitely has the cooling going on. Using a small boar brush face lathered up a slick chilly batch. Last time I used the Fatip it had cap & handle swapped in from an R89 Grande. I went stock original though I don't prefer the smaller shorter Piccolo set-up. Somewhere between the lather, razor, and a fresh blade everything worked well. Three passes with gentle cleanup left little stubble. Alum was bright and loud on my neck as expected. Combine a numbingly chill soap, a fresh blade, an aggressive razor I haven't used in months. Still an acceptable CCS with no errors. A splash of Blue Juice to carry on the chill for a fine finish.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Frank, the Astra SPs are sharper, and the Voskhods are smoother. Both are fantastic blades, though. Thanks for asking!

THANKS!!!! sounds great. much appreciated. Already passing on my mentors teachings to a new DE shaver in another thread. I find it is one thing to learn and it feels even better when you can pass on that knowledge.

Thank go out to my mentors, Chris and the many guys here. Hopefully, I do you all proud.

I have a TON of reading to do. Good thing it is going to snow bad tomorrow. Now watch, I lose power. At least I can still shave!!

I agree, Clint. The Gillette New Long Comb is the best 3-piece DE I've used so far.

I am going to have to step out on this one. I have a pretty important meeting set for Friday, maybe really important, and I cannot afford to show up with stitches on my face.
